Southview Synopsis

June 2016

June has arrived! One of the busiest months of any school year as we wind up one year and start to prepare for start-up in September. Staff and students continue to focus on learning as well as planning for year-end activities and trips. Staff are also preparing final report cards for students which will go home on June 28th. The name of your child's teacher for September 2016 will be included on the report card. We would like to remind you that all class placements are TENTATIVE until we know for sure what our actual enrolment numbers are in September. There could possibly be changes made before the first day of school or mid September if enrolment numbers fluctuate or if staff changes happen over the summer.

Summer Fun Pass

This summer, fun costs less. Through the 2016 Fun Pass, Ontario has 18 popular attractions across the province offering free admission for one child when they are accompanied by a paying adult or senior. Parents also save $2 on a daily parking permit at selected Ontario's provincial parks.

Learning doesn’t stop when school ends. Your kids can learn and have fun during the summer months by visiting one of Ontario’s attractions – from exploring a 200-year old shipwreck at Discovery Harbour in Penetanguishene to experiencing the world of science through interactive exhibits at the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto. Simply bring a coupon – found in the 2016 Fun Pass booklet or at to any participating attraction. It’s that easy.

Visit our website for more information about the Fun Pass program and to download the e-pass.

Newsletters for 2016/17 School Year

Starting in September 2016, we will no longer send home a hard copy of our newlstetter to each family. Instead, the newsletter can be found on our web site, Twitter feed and School Council Facebook page. As well, we will be looking into using an app called Remind as another way for us to communicate with parents. You may also opt to receive the newsletter directly to your mailbox by providing us with a current email address. If you would like to receive an email copy, please complete the bottom portion of this page and return to the school.
