From the Middle EMS and ELA
News from the Principal, November 19, 2020
Hello Parents and Families,
Hopefully you have seen the district communication or possibly you heard at the Board Meeting on Tuesday that Englewood Schools will remain in remote learning through the end of the semester (our last day with students is December 17).
I know that this is tough to hear, and we all hope so desperately that the numbers in Englewood and Arapahoe county will recover quickly so we can resume in-person learning in January.
Regardless we are here to ensure the best education possible under these difficult conditions. The most important aspect of your child's day-to-day education is getting on Zoom at the three intervals each day (please see the schedules linked below).
If students do not attend zoom, they will be marked unexcused absent. Unexcused absences can lead to involvement in truancy court, which is definitely not the path we'd like to take with any student.
Please reach out to us so we can better support your student. We want to partner with you in helping your student stay engaged in their learning. In the short term, we don't want to see students fail their classes. In the long term, we worry about the impact of gaps in skills carrying forward into students' futures.
We are closed next week for Thanksgiving Break. Happy Thanksgiving to all our wonderful middle school families.
If at any time you need anything, please do not hesitate to reach out.

ATTENDANCE DURING REMOTE LEARNING
- Students who do not login will be counted absent.
- Students need to be on time to their zoom call. Missing too much of the Zoom call will result in an absence.
- If your child will not be present in remote learning, please call the attendance line to excuse their absence (within 24 hours of the absence).
- One point of confusion for students has been which day and which zoom. We are on a rotation schedule just like we were while in-person. If students struggle with getting on Zoom, they should email their teachers immediately so teachers can help problem-solve.
Technology Support During Rolling Remote
Parents/Guardians- Send an email to tech@engschools.net with your students' names and a brief description of the problem. You can also call the Tech hotline @ 303-806-6883.

Englewood Schools uses four metrics (with Arapahoe County data) to determine if we must shift from In-Person learning to Remote learning. These metrics are based on science, facts and the best interests of our students and staff.
