A Message From Our Principal
We have another big event coming up next Thursday, October 11, with our second annual Family STEAM Night! Please take a moment to review the flyer below for further information. We will be selling pizza by the slice again if your family is interested. Please click on the tab below and share with us how many slices your family will like if you plan on eating here before the festivities.
October is the month where all of our homeroom teachers will be reaching out to you to schedule a teacher-parent conference. Your child's teacher has now been working with your child for several weeks and would like to share how he or she is progressing. Please be on the lookout for communication about this important opportunity.
Please let me know if I can ever assist you with any questions or concerns. Thank you for your continued support for your child's education and Springfield Elementary!

The Scholastic bookfair will be open in the library next week-Mon Oct 8 through Friday Oct 12. Get excited! It will be ‘enchanting’!
Don’t forget--We continue to collect greeting cards, used or old books that are getting dust on your shelves at home, 24 and 100 piece puzzles, starburst candy!
Until next month, happy reading!
Technology:
Fifth Graders have completed a unit on Email Etiquette. Please look for the brochure that will go home early October with the highlights of the material covered. Second and Third graders have be working on how to create word processing documents in their Google Drive. Kindergarten is learning how to hold a mouse and keep control of it. First Grade is reviewing keyboard skills in Typing Agent. Fourth Grade has been working with Google Slides. Caution about the Internet, the news had a report about Forte Night regarding child predators on the site playing the game with children and trying to get them to meet them in real life. I do not know this game but hear the students talking about it. Please be sure you are supervising their online interaction with strangers. I do many lessons on Internet Safety and Digital Citizenship each year with all the students but that does not compare to how they will listen to you.
Knitting Club has launched. It is for fourth and fifth graders. We will meet from 2:30-3:30 the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. If your child would like to join have them see Ms. Cageao or contact her at cageaoa@fortmillschools.org.
