It may seem hard to believe, but we have reached the half-way point for the school year. In preparation for the conferences, the teachers have completed their students' assessments. Signs have been hung on the classroom clipboards noting the conference date and available times. For those new to the process (and those that may need a reminder), conferences last 15 minutes, so please be sure to arrive on time as delays will limit your time with your child's teacher. Hard copies of assessments will be provided before the conference so that you have adequate time to review it. Classroom conferences are held on specific days so please plan accordingly and we will not have phone conferences. Please note that Ms. Louie may be sitting in on some conferences to observe.

Parents' Night Out at Little Havana

Saturday, Feb. 28th, 5-8pm

1325 Key Highway

Baltimore, MD

Many thanks to Parakeet parent Alexa Wilder who arranged a Parents Night Out at Little Havana on Saturday, February 28th, 2015 from 5pm to 8pm. 10% of the sales from the event will go to BHN! This is a great opportunity to raise money for the school. Not only that, you get to hang out as adults (not just parents)!!!

We will be offering babysitting to BHN families at 204 W. Lanvale from 4:30pm-8:30pm for a fee. More details about babysitting in the upcoming weeks.

Mark your calendars and spread the word! We hope to see you there!

Earlier this week I sent out registration forms for the 2015-2016 school year. It is important that you complete the form and return it to the school so that Ms. Louie is aware of your intentions for the upcoming school year. Extra forms are available in either office or I can resend you the attachment if you would like. The deadline for submission is January 30th, 2015.

We wanted to thank everyone who has contributed to the school's annual fund. Some have asked if they can still donate...of course you can! We are hoping to have 100% family participation. Payments can be made with check, credit card or online through Razoo.

This week, the Redbirds explored humor with Ms Suzie. We became "comedy scientists" and examined animated video clips, sound clips, poetry, literature and the classics (like Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardy) in order to once and for all determine what is funny. We even got to be sound artists and record and manipulate our own goofy sound effects. At the end of the week, against our own hand-painted brick-wall backdrop, we performed our jokes in front of a live audience. We garnered rave reviews!
