The Boston Tea Party
The first event of the American Revolution, was between the Colonist and the British in Boston around July 1773. The British were planning on charging the colonists taxes for damage from The Seven Years War and for the British troops to protect the colonies. The colonists felt that they should not have to pay any taxes, so they formed the Sons of Liberty to protest the taxes. The colonists dressed up as Indians so they would not be recognized and threw tea into the Boston Harbor. due to their actions, the colonists were punished by no trade and they were put under military rule.
The Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre took place March 5, 1770. The Colonists were protesting against the British troops. The colonists were upset that the troops were there watching over them. This is known as a "massacre" because 5 colonists were killed. The 5 dead colonists were Crispus Attucks, Patrick Carr, Samuel Gray, Samuel Maverick, and James Caldwell. Those five men are known as the first deaths of the American Revolution.

Thomas Jefferson
During the American Revolution served as a Virginia legislature. Thomas Jefferson attended the College of William and Mary in Virginia. Jefferson was asked to draft the Declaration of Independence which showed why the colonies wanted independence from Britain. He also wrote the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom, which was influenced by the U.S. Constitution. Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom.
