Spring Conferences - Student Led Celebrations!
Spring conferences are just around the corner and will take place on Thursday, March 25th and Friday, March 26th. Both days are ½ days of school for students with dismissal at 12:15 PM. You will be able to view your child’s report card on the MiStar Parent Connect Portal on Monday, March 22nd.
Spring conferences are a time for our students to share their progress with you in a student-led conference. Each classroom teacher will share how this process will work in their grade level.
Please look for an email from your child’s teacher with a link to the conference sign-up. We believe that home-school partnerships are vital to student success; therefore, we practice a variety of ongoing communication strategies. For that reason, some families may feel that they already have enough information and that a conference at this time is not needed.
If you would like to sign up for a conference, please view the sign-up shared by your child's teacher. Please be conscious of the start and end times for your conference slots to help teachers stay on schedule.
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held as follows:
Thursday, March 25th 1:00-7:00 PM
Friday, March 26th 1:00-3:30 PM
Please note: We do not have information about next school year at this time and cannot take teacher requests for next grade level placement. This is an opportunity for you and your child’s teacher to discuss:
- Your child’s progress in academic areas
- Your child’s personal behavior and attitudes
- Your child’s group behavior and attitudes
- Your child’s work habits
- Any other concerns or questions you may have about your child’s school success.

3-18-2021 NPS COVID-19 Update
CLOSE CONTACT QUARANTINE UPDATE
As you may be aware, the Wayne County Health Department has adjusted the quarantine requirements for students identified as being a close contact to a positive COVID-19 case to 10 days (from the previous requirements of 14). Parents should continue to monitor their child for symptoms and not send them to school where symptoms are present. Additionally, if your child has had COVID-19 in the past 5 months (evidenced by a positive PCR), quarantine is not required. We began following these new requirements immediately and notified all families where an identified close contact quarantine could be shortened under these new rules.
**REMINDER** INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
The Wayne County Health Department, as indicated on the COVID-19 Daily STUDENT Symptom Screening Tool (2.16.2021), requires that students stay home to quarantine for 7 days from the date they return to the U.S. No earlier than the 7th day of return, a student must have a COVID-10 PCR test and have a negative result before returning to school.
SCREENING FORM UPDATED
Please remember to use the Wayne County Health Department COVID-19 Daily STUDENT Symptom Screening Tool (2.16.2021) each morning to determine if your child can come to school. If your child is a close contact to a positive case, please plan on a 10 day quarantine as the 14 day quarantine will only be required in circumstances where symptoms are present or as required by the health dept or your child's medical care provider.
PLEASE CONTINUE COVID REPORTING TO YOUR CHILD’S SCHOOL
It is important that families continue to report to your child's school attendance office and/or principal's office if anyone in your household is a presumed or positive COVID case, if your child has been in close contact with a presumed or positive COVID case, or if your child is being tested for or is COVID positive. Our COVID Response Team, in coordination with our school nurse and the Wayne County Health Department, are ready to support you through the reporting and necessary quarantine requirement process.
The NPS Covid Response Team along with the Health Department will continue to monitor any outbreaks and all other cases. The NPS COVID-19 Dashboard lists the up-to-date COVID-19 data for Northville Public Schools, and includes a link to the more detailed, school-specific NPS COVID-19 Case Transparency Report.
As you may be aware, multiple SARS B.1.1.7 variant COVID cases have been confirmed in Wayne County. It is imperative that families and staff continue to practice safety protocols, symptom screen each morning, stay home as indicated on the screener and report all information to the school. NPS remains vigilant in these practices during in-person instruction, and believes that these efforts, combined with reducing spread within the community, provide the greatest opportunity to continue uninterrupted in-person instruction.
Volunteers needed in the Morning during arrival
Do you have a few minutes to help us out each morning?
Thank you to all of our parents that have signed up to volunteer to supervise during arrival. We have several spots open for volunteers. We are in need of parents willing to assist us with the safety of our students during arrival time due to the need for supervising the social distancing, mask wearing, and general safekeeping of students as they walk to their assigned entrance doors.
Please sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0f49adaf28a75-amarrival
Parents will need to have an updated ICHAT form (for this school year) which can be found at https://www.northvilleschools.org/apps/pages/index.jsp?UREC_ID=350871&type=d&pREC_ID=1614684.
Please email your completed form if you haven't already done so and copy of your driver's license to Deb Obsniuk as soon as possible.
Parents will need to wear masks and stay socially distanced from students. Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up.
Thank you so much for considering to volunteer as we close out this unique school year! Once you sign up, you will receive an email message to coordinate giving you a volunteer badge to keep and wear for each time you volunteer.

How Do I Submit My Child's March Reading Minutes?
Hooray! We are so happy that March is Reading Month is finally here! This year we are collecting reading minutes digitally. It's really easy to let us know how many minutes your child read each week in March. All you need to do is go to the special March is Reading Month course on your child's Schoology dashboard. Once you click on the course, you'll see lots of great information, as well as a folder that is titled "Submit Week 1 minutes here". Inside the folder there is a Google Form to complete and submit. Each week has a different folder. Google Forms open each Friday morning (March 5, March 12, March 19) and on the morning of Thursday, March 26.
If you have March is Reading Month questions, please feel free to email Mrs. Rush at rushka@northvilleschools.org.
Happy Reading!
PE Note
Winchester families, please be aware that we plan for Physical Education classes to be outside after spring break. Sometimes this works out and sometimes it's too wet. Please have your student prepared to bring a jacket/sweatshirt if needed and possible extra socks in case their feet get wet. Thank you!
Sincerely, Winchester PE dept
7 Habits at Home
This week's at home Habit challenge is:
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood Discuss body language. Talk about how we can use it to know how people are feeling.
OR
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw Pick a favorite exercise, such as jumping jacks, sit-ups, or jogging. Set the clock and do that exercise for 5 minutes a day. Journal your exercises for each day this week.
Families are encouraged to share a video of your family sharing thoughts on one of the two habit review topics. Videos can be sent to Mrs. Bush, School Social Worker @ bushje@northvilleschools.org or Mrs. Lindsay @ lindsayke@northvilleschools.org to be included in the morning announcements.
The document with all 20 weeks of activities is available here .

Lasagna Love
Need a hand with dinner? No matter the reason, your neighbors want to help. Perhaps you are a parent trying to balance a lot during COVID. Or, you are a front line worker who could use some love. Maybe you have lost income and are trying to figure out how to put dinner on the table. Whatever the reason: kindness is for everyone. Let a neighbor deliver a home-cooked lasagna to your family one night. Check out https://www.lasagnalove.org/request or the flyer below with the steps to easily request a lasagna.
