Ms. Robert's Weekly Newsletter

Here is what is going on in our class this week:


Reading: Our story of the week is Soccer Song. The students will focus on the plot and recognizing story structure. The spelling focus is words with ng.


ELA: We will continue to work on nouns this week and the noun test will be this Thursday.


Math: We will begin Unit 6 and the students will learn how find a mystery number, using a number line. They will be given a riddle about a number and will use the number line to solve for the mystery number. Also, number bonds will be introduced later in the week.


Health: We finished up science and will be focusing on health this week. The students will learn about washing their hands, smoking hazards, peacemakers and peacebreakers, and emergency vs. tattling. Peacemakers/peacebreaks and emergency vs. tattling will be GREAT lesson for my class this week.

10/6: ELA Unit 3 Test (nouns)

10/14: International Night (begins at 6:00 pm)

Reading: Students will be practicing words with /ng/, reading comprehension, and fluency.
ELA: Students will continue learning about nouns.
Math: Students will be practicing number lines, tallies, addition and subtraction, and number bonds.
Health: Students will learn ways to keep germs from spreading, smoking hazards, peacemakers and peacebreakers, and emergency vs. tattle.
Reminders:You will see a sheet about the social studies project in your child's folder this week. It is a really fun project, and the kids get excited about it! Your child will be making 10-15 items to "sell" to their peers. The items MUST be homemade. please look at the sheet that went home, and on the back is a rubric explaining what I will be grading.

Thursday, Nov. 6-ELA Unit 3 Nouns Test.

Friday, Nov. 7-Reading and spelling tests.

Friday, Nov.-14-International Night at 6pm. Our class is representing Argentina!

Reading

We will be reading the story A Trip to the Fire Station. We will have our reading and spelling test on Friday, November 7th.


ELA

We will be continuing our unit on nouns.


Math

We will finish up our mini-unit on two and three digit addition and subtraction and have a quiz on Thursday, November 6th.


Health

We will learn ways to keep germs from spreading, smoking hazards, peacemakers and peacebreakers, and emergency vs. tattle.

Ms. Judge's Class

Thank you to all those who brought supplies for our party! It was a great success, and the children had a lot of fun.
