Message From Mrs. Robertson
We have a had a fabulous start to the school year! Students and staff are settling into their daily routines as they begin a year full of experiences that promote learning and growing. During these first weeks of school I have had the pleasure of visiting each classroom to hold a "Circle Time" with students. Circle Time is a practice that allows us to get to know each other, work together to solve problems and take time to celebrate our accomplishments. I will be returning to all classrooms in November to hold a "Circle Time" with the students to engage them in sharing their thoughts about CMES and ways to make our school an even better place to learn and grow.
I will also be offering this same opportunitity to families on October 15, between 9-10 AM. During this time we will be able to talk about your thoughts and ideas for CMES moving forward. Together we are a team that can make amazing things happen for our students!
I look forward to seeing you soon!

Important Things to Know
Visiting the Building: Maryland State law requires that all persons visiting schools must sign in at the front office and wear a visitor badge. You will be asked to show identification so please be prepared to do so. A new security system has been installed requiring individual to scan their driver's license. Please be patient as we implement this scanning system in order to help with safety for students, staff and visitors.
If you wish to talk with your child's teacher, please make an appointment with as teachers are responsible to student supervision and instruction throughout the school day which is from 8:30-4:00.
Accessing the Building After 4:00: If your child forgets something at school they may return prior to 4 PM to retrieve it. After 4 PM students/parents will not be able to retrieve forgotten items. This procedure assists with keeping our building safe.
Dismissal Changes: If your child’s dismissal procedure changes, please send in a note or call the main office prior to 3:00 p.m. Requests received after 3:00 p.m may not be honored. Please don’t leave a message on a teacher’s voicemail or send them an e-mail, as they may not be able to access until the school day is over. If your child is going home with another student, the office needs notes from both families. If no notification is received for a dismissal change students will be sent home in the way they normally go home.
Absences: We are required to document and monitor student attendance throughout the school year. A note stating the reason for absence is required within two school days of your child’s return. When you child is absent from school please send in a note stating the reason for the absence. The note can be provided by you or can be one that you received from a doctor's office. As a school we will notifiy families of unlawful absences as outlined in the FCPS regulation 400-98. You can find specific information related to this regulation below.
