Sophomore Timeline
In Choices360, explore your career interests using the interest profiler and other assessments. You will then have the ability to explore many careers based on your results.
Explore your post-high school interests: college (2 year or 4 year), technical schools, military, or the work force. Choices360 can help you!
If your plan is to attend college, use the college search links in Choices360.
Keep in mind that you are only in the exploration phase. Have fun with it!
Many colleges are closed to tours this summer, but many virtual tours can be viewed online. One site to check out is: www.campusreel.org.
Summer reading: Continue expanding your vocabulary and your world.
Continue exploring your interests during the summer. This could be through a job, internship, volunteer experience, or self-designed project.
Under College Planning in Choices360, you will see a link for Test Prep. This is a free test prep for the PSAT, SAT, and ACT.
Take the PSAT/NSMQT in October. This test qualifies students for the National Merit Scholarship. Stay on track with your ACT/SAT testing timeline and study schedule (more on this in the fall).
As you begin your junior year, continue participating in non-academic extracurricular activities. See if you can deepen your involvement or take on a leadership role in the activities you’ve already been doing. Or, step outside your comfort zone and try something new.
In Choices360, continue to update your resume with clubs/activities, volunteer work, jobs, etc.
If you think you may play Division I or II sports in college:
--Register for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Clearinghouse.
--Register for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletes (NAIA) Eligibility Center.
--Familiarize yourself with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) requirements.
--Let your high school counselor know you’re considering college athletics.
Lastly, take some time to relax! The end of your sophomore year was a stressful one. Have some fun, and come back refreshed and ready to go in August. We can't wait to see you!!
