Dear Parents,
I hope you are enjoying the week. We have a special event on Thursday night. Ty Gorman, our Director of Instructional Technology, is presenting a Parent University seminar. I hope you can join as Mr. Gorman presents very valuable information about how to monitor your student’s internet usage so they are safe and understand the importance of boundaries. The details are as follows:
Parent University - Technology & Safety: Barrington 220 Director of Instructional Technology, Ty Gorman, will host a Parent University on April 7th from 7-8 pm on ZOOM to discuss managing technology at home. Topics will include home internet safety, myths and realities of screen time, establishing rules and boundaries for technology use, and strategies for helping your child learn to self-regulate. The format will be an informal presentation followed by a discussion-style Q & A session. Zoom link below:

News to Note:
Mitigation updates continue throughout the district. Starting Monday, April 4th, water fountains were uncovered and may be used by students. If you prefer to continue to send a personal water bottle to school for your child to use, please do so. Also, as more mitigations are lifted, please be aware we continue with regular sanitation and cleaning of our school as well as the regular use of hand sanitizer.
Testing Updates: All 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will begin taking the IAR test Tuesday, April 12th. Students have six sessions to take, they will take one session each day over the next two weeks. Please make sure your child eats a hearty breakfast, has a charged iPad, and brings a healthy snack to class. If your child is absent, he/she will make up testing sessions upon their return to school. Please note that all students in grades three, four, and five across the district are required to take this state test.
Please click here to read more about the test from Dr. Ditkowsky.
School Year 2022-2023: Beginning in early April, the Rose staff starts the important task of developing class lists for the next school year. Classroom teachers, student support personnel, and I devote considerable time and effort toward this process. If you do wish to provide the school with unique information concerning social, emotional, or academic factors, please keep the following two points in mind. Submit your thoughts in writing no later than April 22, 2022. Please note, we do not accept requests for specific teachers.
COVID Dashboard: We have 0 positive student COVID cases reported at Rose School this week and 0 students in quarantine. We have 0 positive staff cases to report. If you have additional questions about positive cases and quarantines, you can also check the district COVID Dashboard for up-to-date district COVID information.
Per new school guidelines, District 220 is now accepting negative home covid test results for certain symptoms. Please review the most up-to-date IDPH guidance here.
