Free Meals for ALL Children in Forsyth County!

The United States Department of Agriculture, the administrative agency of the School Nutrition Program, has approved a waiver that will allow schools to provide free meals to all students in Forsyth County. This waiver will last through our last school day in December or until federal funds expire.

Both school-based and virtual Big Creek students can take advantage of this service. No action is needed on the part of the parents.

Virtual Students can pick up meals curbside in the car rider line from 11am-Noon. Families may not enter school.

For more information, please visit Free Meals for All Children.

Free & Reduced Meal Benefits

Even though all students currently are receiving meals free of charge, families who qualify for meal benefits should still complete free and reduced-price meal applications to avoid a lapse in meal benefits once the waiver has ended. Meal applications are not required to receive free meals during the time the waiver is active. If you have questions about free and reduced-price meal applications please contact Sandra McKinzie at smckinzie@forsyth.k12.ga.us

We encourage on-line applications because these can usually be approved within 48 hours whereas paper applications can take up to 10 days for approval. The Big Creek website contains all the information and links needed to apply on-line. It also provides information on how to obtain a paper application. The application (on-line and paper) and related information is also available in Spanish. Access the application here.

New Check In and Out Procedures

We also have a new paperless procedure for check-in and check-outs this year. When you arrive to check your student in/out for an appointment, please bring your phone and ID to the security desk. You will scan a QR code to access our online form. You will need to know your child's student ID number. Once completed, we will contact your child's teacher and they will meet you in the security area. Thank you for your patience as we implement these changes!
