Dear NSD Families and Staff,
I am happy to report the first days of the new school year went very well. It was wonderful to observe and feel the energy, joy, and exuberance throughout the district in all our schools. This week we are welcoming our youngest students, our kindergartners and preschoolers.
It is inspiring to return to school amidst great news about our high schools. Both Nashua High School North and Nashua High School South were ranked in the top 25 public high schools in the state of New Hampshire.
US News & World Report ranks high schools using college readiness, state assessment proficiency, state assessment performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth, and graduation rate as criteria.
Congratulations to Mr. Burns and Mr. Richard and their dedicated staff. The rankings reflect the positive, empowering, and productive academic environment at both high schools. Again, congratulations!
Sincerely,
Mario Andrade, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
Nashua School District

Congratulations to Nashua High School North and Nashua High School South:
Ranked Among the Top High Schools in New Hampshire!
Nashua Board of Education
The Nashua Board of Education met for the first time since the start of the new school year to review several action items related to school start-up.
Committee on Human Resources: Among the 13 personnel recommendations approved, nine were teacher nominations.
Unfinished Business: The Board approved a $212,625 one-year agreement with the Wisconsin Center for Education Products and Services (WCEPS) for professional development and coaching in the field of ELL instruction. The agreement fulfills needed training required in the NSD agreement with the US Department of Justice. Dr. Andrade recommended WCEPS as providing the highest quality professional development focused on improving instruction for English language learners. An emphasis will be placed this year on analyzing data to inform continuous improvement throughout NSD.
New Business: The Board approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the Board and the Nashua Teachers' Union to implement professional development during the City of Nashua primary election day, Tuesday, September 12. On primary day, nine of the NSD schools are used for polling and, subsequently, students are not in school. Primary Day allows teachers, paraeducators, and food service staff a dedicated day for professional development.
The next Nashua Board of Education meeting will be held Monday, September 25, 2023 at Nashua High School North.
