Background
He went to prepratory school where he learned Latin and Greek. He went on to finish his education at Princeton University. He studied under the president of the university, John Witherspoon, for six months. After he graduated he served on committees of the Virginia Connvention. He later attended the Costitional Convention, where he co-wrote the constition and the bill of rights.
