Student Goal Setting
Our teachers and students work together on goal setting, and each of these goals may be different as they are driven by the students and specifically focus on their areas for growth..
Please take some time to ask your child about their goals in school, what they are doing to reach their goals, and how you can help them to succeed.
We look forward to celebrating our children's successes with you this year!
Senior Service Day
They seemed to have as much fun as our Blue Ash students did!!

Reporting Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying Incidences
In an ongoing effort to provide a safe learning environment, Sycamore is requesting parents, students, and staff to inform administration (or whoever) of any perceived incidences of harassment, intimidation, or bullying.
Per the Sycamore Board of Education policy JFCF, harassment, intimidation, and bullying are defined as any provoked and intentional written, verbal, electronic or physical act that a student has exhibited toward another particular student more than once and the behavior both:
causes mental or physical harm to the other student; and
is sufficiently severe, persistent, or pervasive that it creates an intimidating, threatening, or abusive educational environment for the other student.
To view the complete policy, visit www.sycamoreschools.org, under the Board of Education tab, scroll down to “Policies”, search for policy “JFCF”.
Sycamore will do everything possible to address any complaints of harassment, intimidation, and bullying. We encourage students, staff, parents, and community members to report this type of behavior to the district if help is needed to solve a problem.
To report an incident of harassment, intimidation, and bullying,
Go to the website, www.sycamoreschools.org under Academics, General Education, Parent Resources, Anti-Bullying
Scroll down until you see the Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying Incident Reporting Form for the individual schools.
Fill the form on-line and submit it electronically.
Hard copies of this form are available in each of the schools.
Complete the hard copy of the report form and turn it into the building principal.
The building principal or designee will promptly investigate all reported incidences.
It is difficult to investigate reported incidences that are anonymously submitted. However, every effort will be made to maintain the confidentiality of the reporter. Deliberate false reporting of harassment, intimidation, and bullying is prohibited.
Third Grade Testing
October, 2018
Dear Sycamore Families,
Next week, our 3rd grade students will be presented with the opportunity to demonstrate their progress on grade level Reading standards via the Ohio AIR assessments. These assessments will be taken online and will be taken in two parts on two separate days.
The state’s annual assessments provide a snapshot of your child’s progress in their understanding and application of curriculum standards. From a district perspective, these results allow us to benchmark ourselves against similar districts and to identify trends in data that will guide our work with teachers and students. Our teachers work diligently to fully prepare your child to be successful on these assessments and in other aspects of their growth and development.
Below, you will find a link that delineates the testing dates scheduled for students in grade 3. Information regarding specific times for assessments will be generated at each building and communicated via their newsletters and blogs. Any questions can be directed to your building administrator.
We are so appreciative of the support you provide your children in our partnership together toward academic excellence. If you have any questions regarding testing, please contact your building administrator.
Sincerely,
Karen B. Naber Assistant Superintendent
Blue Ash Elementary Collection for NEEDS and United Pet Fund Resource and Food Bank Center
Blue Ash Elementary will be collecting for NEEDS and United Pet Fund Resource and Food Bank Center from October 22 - October 29
Every year, the parents, staff and students of BAE generously donate canned goods to N.E.E.D.S. (Northeast Emergency Distribution Service) to help those less fortunate. Once again we will be collecting canned goods to help those in our community have a happy holiday season.
In addition to this collection we will be accepting dog and cat toys, food and supplies in order to support our animal friends as well.
We will collect these items in our homerooms and front lobby each day.
Please read below for details regarding needed items for our collection…
NEEDS -
Canned goods such as corn, green beans, peas, baked beans, fruit, pasta, spaghetti sauce, soup (not broth), tuna, as well as cereal, peanut butter, jelly, macaroni and cheese, toiletry items such as toilet paper, soap and toothpaste. *Please no glass containers*
For our animal friends -
Dog or cat food, puppy or kitten food, dog or cat toys (new), dog collars and leashes, stainless steel bowls, kitty litter, blankets, sheets, towels (new or used), dog/cat shampoo.
Thank you for your continued generosity!
October is Anti-Bullying Month
It is not enough to just be aware. We are all charged with doing all we can to prevent and stop bullying in our schools and our communities. And October is not the only time that these reminders are important. The prevention of bullying is a focus for our school all year long.
Every day we focus on our "Four Be's at BAE" - Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be a Problem Solver. We learn how important kindness, empathy and inclusion are; and we practice everyday. We learn how to recognize bullying behaviors and how to problem solve to make our school a safe and supportive place for all of our classmates.
Parents, please remember to ask your children frequently about their day. Have them share their experiences with you so that in the event that they are having difficulty with friendships, we can all work together to support them.
Below is a link that you can access for more information about what parents can do to help prevent bullying.

Thank you for partnering with us to create a school and community where everyone feels safe, welcome and supported.
