The WALL of WOOD
A grant acquired through the Arts Council of the Valley

THE PROCESS
Artist Louise Nevelson created monumental assemblage sculptures purely made of found wooden objects. Thanks to a grant from the Arts Council of the Valley, students at Peak View and Lacey Spring will create a large wall of wood. An assemblage is just like a collage except it is made with 3-dimensional objects rather than 2-dimensional objects. In order to create our monumental sculpture we need wood...and a lot of it. Each student will paint their own piece of wood and add it to a small cubicle. Each cubicle will represent a class from Peak View. All of the cubicles will be combined toward the end of the school year to create our monumental sculpture. The objects will be painted Peak View Blue.
WE NEED WOOD!
Students, parents, and teachers, we need your help! Bring in any wooden
objects for our sculpture. We are collecting objects for Peak View now! Extra objects will be given to those who did not bring an object. Please bring in your objects by December 20th, 2017 to Mr. Michael. If you have a connection to someone who has wooden objects that need to be picked up please send me an email: cmichael@rockingham.k12.va.us
*Please deliver M-W. Object must be able to fit inside a shoe box; larger
objects will be cut.
