Canned Food Drive- November 7-November 16th

Elm Grove Eagles! This year we are going to support our community by assisting the Society of St. Stephen with a Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive! Last year we were able to support 500 families in our community!

How can you help support our Community? Bring non perishable items to your classroom from November 7th - November 16th. Each item brought to school counts as 1 item in the count. Food items must not be expired, so check your expiration dates! Also, we will not collect any food items that need to be stored in a refrigerator! Only cans and dry goods, please!

Be a Charity Champ! Each grade level class who brings the most food donation items will be recognized as the Charity Champ during the Turkey Trot and receive the Charity Champ Trophy to display in their classroom for the year!

Turkey Trot- Friday, November 18th

Come one, come all and join your child for Elm Grove's annual Turkey Trot on Friday, November 18th. Students are encouraged to invite friends, family, neighbors, staff and faculty to walk/jog with them. Due to safety reasons, we ask that all pets be left at home. Every time a student or adult completes one lap around the track, they will be given one colored popsicle stick. At the end of the class period, the Specials teachers will collect and count sticks from each homeroom class. The individual class in each grade level with the most laps completed will receive a trophy to be kept in their classroom until the end of the year! See all you "TROTTERS" on Friday, November 18th.

*Please note that additional school age children, including EGE students, are not able to participate in the Turkey Trot, as they should be participating in their regularly scheduled school classes. Elm Grove students should only attend their own grade level Turkey Trot.

Absences Due To Illness

Please help our EGE family stay safe and healthy by following the safety tips below:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and hot/warm water. Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough.
  • Stay home if you are sick. Students with a FEVER of 100 or greater should stay home until 24 hours free without fever reducing medications like Tylenol, Ibuprofen, or Cold medications with fever reducing ingredients.
  • Get plenty of rest and drink plenty of fluids.
  • Seek medical care if symptoms become severe or fever ongoing for 2 or more days.

Class Parties- Friday, December 16th

The Holiday Parties will be Friday, December 16th, and we need volunteers from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm to help make them great for our Eagles. Please sign up here and remember if you have multiple children only choose one classroom to help out in! Also, if you would like to help plan the parties please reach out to the Elm Grove PTA at ptaelmgrove@gmail.com.

Construction on Playgrounds

We are so excited that construction on our new playgrounds has begun and will continue through March! It will be important to remind your student to stay away from construction areas.

Bike Racks

At this time, it will be necessary to move our bike rack to a temporary location near the track. If your child rides a bike to school, they will need to bring a lock to secure their bicycle. All students were asked to secure their bikes with their own locks beginning Monday, October 31st. Teachers will continue to monitor the bike rack area before and after school to ensure student safety. We ask that you be cautious when dropping off and picking up students in the back parking lot.

The USDA waiver that funded free meals for all students has ended. It is critical for families to complete the annual application this school year in order to qualify for free and reduced meals. Visit humbleisd.net/freeandreduced for more information.
