2015 Year in Review
The Best (and Worst) of Fashion, Celebrities, Movies, and more during the year 2015
Selena Gomez - One of the Top Fashionistas of 2015
Selena Gomez, former Disney Channel star and current pop artist, has been noted for her classic yet bold style. Performances including the Jingle Ball, American Music Awards, and even the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show have all shown how fashionable Gomez is and how she is not afraid to try different styles. These vary from pant suits to gowns, all ranging in color and length.
Zendaya: Making Her Mark
Zendaya, another Disney Channel star, has broken away from the normal standards and is making her mark on the world of movies, music, and fashion as well. She has a creative sense of style which is the drive behind her bold fashion decisions. As pictured above, a pink skirt suit and hot pink heels were what Zendaya wore to the American Music Awards in 2015. She has had her audacious moments of the year, including when she wore dreadlocks to the 2015 Oscars and faced much backlash by other celebrities and the press.
Ariana Grande: New Music, Trendsetting, and Signatures
Ariana Grande, a former Nickelodeon star and current pop artist, has made her comeback from acting with her top selling albums and singles. After her show Sam & Cat was cancelled after only one season, Grande immediately jumped into her singing career and made her name one that brings a smile to many faces. With powerful vocals and a signature hairstyle, Grande never fails to impress her fans. She has an interesting sense of style as well, wearing peplum tops, mini skirts, or even unitards with half skirts. She always pairs those with six-inch heels and glittery eye makeup. In her new single, Focus, Grande even goes with bright white hair to portray her stellar music.
Best and Worst of 2015: Over the Knee Boots
Some of the products introduced in 2015 have made their impact, both negative and positive, on the world. Included in these are the over the knee boots which have been worn by many celebrities such as Ariana Grande, Blake Lively, and even Kate Moss. The boots which used to be only up to the calves or even lower have now risen up to the mid-thigh area. This product can be considered one of the better ones of 2015.
Best and Worst of 2015: Maxi Dresses
Floor length dresses have always been considered classy and in style, so when maxi dresses rose to popularity and stayed there, it was not a bad thing. These dresses have been worn to some of the biggest award shows of 2015 including the American Music Awards, the Video Music Awards, the Grammys, and the Oscars. With their classic appearance and originality, maxi dresses are one of the best trends of 2015.
Best and Worst of 2015: Mid Calve Boots
When it comes to boots, either go all the way or don't go at all. High boots and ankle boots are something to be appreciated, however mid calve boots are something that can be tossed out. They have an appearance that can be considered casual and uncomfortable, as well as being something that should not be worn in public.
Best and Worst of 2015: Straitjacket Sleeves
Although the models and dress colors/designs may be pretty, the sleeves have got to go. Straitjackets, for those who do not know, are jackets worn by patients in hospitals to prevent them injuring themselves and others. It is probably best to keep it that way instead of portraying them as being something fashionable in the media. The dress traps the person wearing it from their arms and is rather uncomfortable in other words.
Star Wars: Over Thirty Years of Anticipation
2015 was filled with great movies and talented actors and crew, however the few movies that marketed right and really made their mark in the box office deserve some credit. Star Wars fans have waited over 30 years for the new movie to come out and were not disappointed. With movie theaters selling special edition Star Wars 3D Glasses, collectible cups, and even small books to hand out with every ticket, the debut and marketing of the movie was one of the top reasons that it was so successful. Of course with the return of the original cast and the legendary story, Star Wars: The Force Awakens was definitely a great way to end 2015.
Starting Summer Off Right With Minions
Taylor Swift: From Country to Pop Charts
Taylor Swift has always been known for her small town love songs. But since the early 2010's, Swift has been incorporating pop into her songs, including the release of her two albums, Red and 1989, which were big hits on the charts. By including other celebrities in some of her more popular songs such as "Bad Blood," and performing some of her hits at the Video Music Awards and the American Music Awards, Swift put herself out there in the world and got the fame and recognition she deserved.
One Direction: A Split In Group, But A Rise In Fame
Following the devastating split of One Direction in early 2015, One Direction continued to push through for their fans and make even more incredible music, without Zayn Malik. Although there are only four members now, One Direction continues to release singles and albums that have topped charts and the craze for the boy band is still lasting. One Direction has released their own perfume and even starred in their own commercial to boost their popularity and increase ratings on their music.

New Year, Same Resolutions?
Every New Year, people come up with resolutions that they hope to overcome and achieve throughout the year. So what are mine?
1. For personal improvement, I am going to stop drinking soda and drink more natural drinks, such as water and tea.
2. For family and friends, I am going to respect my family more than I do now, and I am not going to take my friends for granted anymore. I am also going to ditch the fake friends and the people who do not treat me right and keep the friends who are always there for me and are reliable.
3. For school and the world around me, I am going to start prepping for college and taking school more seriously, and I am going to work harder at my job and become more responsible and respectful.
