Important Information for You!
NWEA Assessment
Thank you for your flexibility last Friday with NWEA MAP testing. While we were able to finish up a couple of classes, I know that some of you haven't even began. I am working on rescheduling the remainder of the NWEA MAP test, but with the forecast, I am not even going to complete it until we know for sure weather...stay tuned.
Report Cards
Report cards will go home with students the day we return to school. Please request that parents/guardians sign and return envelopes within a week of receiving cards.
DHS Graduation
Teachers received an invitation to participate in 2019 DHS commencement ceremony. If you wish to participate please complete the form that was sent electronically and turn it into Debbie by February 1st. Graduation is one of my favorite times of the year. It's always wonderful to watch former students walk across the stage and receive their diplomas. Graduation is on Monday, June 10th. I hope that you will consider!
Communicating with the Press
The District has a well developed protocol to follow for communicating with the press.
Please note your guidelines below:
1. If a staff member is approached by the news media, that staff member should direct the media to the building
principal, who shall inform the Distric Communications Office.
2. If a staff member wishes to initiate a feature story for the news media, he/she must have the approval of the
building principal, who shall inform the Distric Communications Office.
3. Staff members shall not contact the media directly without the approval of the District Communications Office.
Spending Cut-off
Don't forget that General Fund spending accounts for teachers will be cut-off January 31st. I will then be working to make building level decisions and purchases February 1st through February 15th. So, if there is something you need for your classroom, please let me know right away. Please note that the spending cut-off does not apply to your PTO/A-74 account. Again, if you have any questions, please see me.
Cardinal Code Focus for the Week: Hallways
Given last week's snow days and this week, please take some time to review the entire Cardinal Code Lesson for the Hallway. Some key points to remember and reteach are:
- Walking hip & lip
- Hip & lip, means you are not talking to your friends while walking
- Eyes forward so you can be sure to give personal space.
- Ensure that there are no big gaps.
Quotes Worth Reading
"When it feels scary to jump, that's exactly when you jump. Otherwise you end up staying the same place your whole life. And that I can't do."
-J.C. Chandor
As we head into the second semester, I encourage you all to take a risk, try something new, step outside your comfort zone...be awesome and keep being awesome!
