March 14th - GHMS Literacy Night 2018 - March Madness

Please join us at GHMS on Wednesday, March 14th from 5:30 P.M. -7:00 P.M. for Literacy Night! This year March Madness is LITeracy! We will have a:


  • Poetry SLAM
  • "Free Agent" book exchange
  • Pre-game entertainment
  • Staff vs. student basketball game
  • An author signing
  • Book "Try-outs" & pre-sales
  • MVP student presentations
  • All-Star Adult speakers
  • A team meeting
  • Light refreshments

You will see how the real MVP is literacy, as it is the power player in all subject areas! All parents and students are invited!!!

GHMS Executive Board Positions for 2018-2019:

The Gold Hill Middle School PTA is run completely by volunteers and we need you more than ever next school year! Several of our long-time volunteers have students moving up to ninth grade so we have many executive board and committee chair openings that are crucial to the success of our non-profit organization.


Please consider volunteering. We have so many opportunities and are certain that we can find that special place for you. Please help us continue to be impactful to the school, students, faculty, staff, and community.


Executive Board Positions Open for the 2018-2019 School Year:


The Executive Board is nominated and elected each school year and we are currently taking nominations for the following Board positions.

· Secretary (1)


Committee Chairs are as follows: Volunteer Coordinator, Fundraising Chair, Blue Ice Chair, Membership Chair, Grocery Store Fundraising Chair, Teacher Appreciation Chair.

FMSD Summer Camps

Below you will find information about the 2018 summer math camps and summer STEAM camp that the Fort Mill School District Curriculum Department will offer this summer. Registration for the camp is now open.


Please note, we are unable to accept payments for the camp until May 1st, 2018. We ask that you register your child for the camps they are interested in attending using the links to the forms below. Once the payment system is open, we will communicate to parents so that they are able to make payments and finalize registration.


SUMMER MATH CAMPS

Location: Pleasant Knoll Middle School

Dates: June 11-14 and/or July 16-19

Hours: 8:00 am – 12:00 noon (Monday – Thursday)

This camp is for rising 4th – rising 9th graders. The camp cost is $140.00 per week.

SUMMER STEAM CAMP

Location: Orchard Park Elementary School

Dates: July 16-19

Hours: 8:00 am – 12:00 noon (Monday – Thursday)

The camp is for rising 4th – rising 8th graders. The cost of the camp is $100.00 per week.

Please be sure to complete the registration with an accurate, up-to-date email address. We will use this to communicate with parents about the camps. Once the payment system is available (May 1st), we will send a reminder to all registered with further directions on how to pay and finalize camp registration.

TDAP - for rising 7th graders (Current 6th graders)

6th Grade (rising 7th) Health Information:


As of August 2013, South Carolina requires that ALL seventh graders receive the Tdap vaccine to protect them against whooping cough (pertussis). It is a state law that documentation be on file at GHMS.


It is not too early to start scheduling your appointments now! Please ask that your physician complete a SOUTH CAROLINA Immunization form. North Carolina physicians are able to do this, but you must specify. Turn in forms to Staci Hyde, GHMS School Nurse. This has been a major undertaking for us to collect the required documentation.
