NEW PE & Health Standards!

Did you know that the Oregon Department of Education and a committed group of individuals have been working on new health and physical education standards? Two standards review committees were announced earlier this year, and these groups have been working very hard to create a set of standards for each health and physical education teacher to use. We had three members from the Oregon SHAPE board of directors on these committees. The new standards will be recommended for adoption to the state board at the end of June.

50 Million Strong by 2029

A message from SHAPE America...

"Approximately 50 million students are currently enrolled in America's elementary and secondary schools (grades pre-K to 12). SHAPE America wants to ensure that by the time today's preschoolers graduate from high school in 2029, all of America's students are benefiting from the skills, knowledge and confidence to enjoy healthy, meaningful physical activity."
