Worms are a type of program called 'Malware' that get onto your computer which copies and spreads through computer networks to other computers. they rely on security failures (like a lack of password) to get on to your computer. they can cause at least some harm to the network, so are something to be wary of. for more info on worms, click the link below!
Viruses
viruses are again a type of program called 'Malware' that get on to your computer which copies and spreads through computer networks. however, viruses are different because they have to attach themselves to other programs on your computer to travel through the network. Viruses often perform some type of harmful activity on the computers, such as stealing memory space, finding private information, destroying files, displaying messages on your screen, sending emails to your contacts their or logging what you do so be careful. more info on viruses can be found through the link below!
Spyware
Spyware is similar to our old friends 'cookies' because they gather information on you and what you do on the internet. they are used mainly for websites to give you personalized adverts but can be used nastily in which case you would have no idea it was on your computer. so be careful! for more info on spyware click the link below!
Spam
have you ever got tons of really annoying emails from companies that you don't want and didn't ask for? well that's Spam. Its not harmful to your computer what so ever, its just a little annoying and something to look out for. if you would like to know about spam then have a look through the link below!
Phishing
no, not the typical sat by a quiet river sort of fishing spelt badly! Phishing is just 'Spam' that try and get you to sign up to something that inst real or you don't need just for your personal information. this is only harmful if it asks you for your bank details, for obvious reasons, but is something to be wary of. for more info on Phishing, click the link below!
