-DuBois was a key figure of the rise of Harlem

-He help find the NAACP, the National Association of the Advancement of Colored People

-He was the editor of the magazine called The Crisis

-His magazine and himself helped promote the African American arts in this time

Marcus Garvey

-He founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association

-He believed that African Americans should get their own interests without having the white men involved

-He believed that the NAACP threatened the racial purity of Africans

-Marcus was jailed for mail fraud and was jailed from 1925 to 1927. Then after his relese he was sentenced to leave the country

-This artist is Aaron Douglas

-He focused on the experiences of African Americans in his work

-It was important because of how it shows how the blacks go with the economy

Writer, Langston Hughes

-The writing, which is really a collection of books, we chose that he wrote is The Way of The White Folks

-That collection was about the ways of white people in different varieties

-This collection was important because it shows that some white people have different views on blacks
