Spring at Doyle

Thank you to Mrs. Nocentino for arranging our hanging baskets and the planters in front of the office. We are receiving many complements from parents and visitors. Please check out the floral compositions in our school colors (blue and white) which were generously donated by Andrew and Peter's grandmother Mrs. Patrica Price.

Human Growth and Development

Dear Parents of Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Grade Students,

Your child will be studying a unit on Human Growth and Development as part of the district-wide Science/Health program for students in these grades. The units differ in each of the grades. The information becomes more complex and detailed as the grades increase. The units cover aspects of human anatomy and physiology of the human reproductive systems and the maturing process of adolescence. Lessons are designed to provide students with factual information and proper vocabulary about the human reproductive system, as well as helping them to develop healthy attitudes about their own sexuality. In addition to the prepared lessons, students also have ample opportunity to ask questions. Our professional staff: composed of the school nurse, classroom teachers, and / or the physical education teacher, will instruct your children utilizing the district's curriculum.

We would like parents to be fully informed about the content of this program. The Central Bucks School District has posted a summary of the Human Growth & Development content, which can be located on the web at: http://www.cbsd.org/Page/1497 .

The instructional video(s) used in grades 4, 5, and 6 are available for review at school by contacting the school nurse. Please contact the school if you wish to preview this content.

For a variety of reasons, some parents prefer not to have the child participate in these lessons. So that we may be guided by your wishes, please indicate in writing, to your child's teacher, if you do NOT wish to have your child participate in this program.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact the certified school nurse. We encourage you to be open with your child about the program and discuss the topic before, during and after the classroom lessons.
