Bronchitis

What causes Bronchitis?

Bronchitis is most commonly caused by a virus. It sometimes is caused by bacteria, but most of the time, viruses are the cause. Viruses are small, non-living agents that infect organisms. They reproduce in the host cells of organisms and that causes the infection to occur inside the organism's body.

How does it spread?

Bronchitis spreads through skin-to-skin contact, droplets in the air (from coughs or sneezes), saliva, and contact with contaminated surfaces.

Fact: Bronchitis is most commonly caused by smoking.
