When you're in a conversation do these things.

You should use encouraging words. If you're confused “paraphrase” put their ideas into your own words to show your listening. When you want something and your parents say you need to show that you're responsible stay calm and use your adult voice don’t whine and be needy that's using your “child” voice.

When in a conversation find a good time and place to talk, try to stay calm. Tone of voice and body language can both change the meaning of what someone is saying. Be sure that your tone and body language match your words so that the listener understands your meaning. Look at the person to whom you're speaking to, turn your body toward them. Don't multi task by texting or talking at the same time. It's okay if you take a walk while having a nice conversation.
