Fair Labor Standards Act Provisions
Living wage
- A new and highly enforced living wage is now in affect for all employers and White, male employees. Employers will now be forced to pay white, male employees a minimum of .25 cents per hour of work.
Overtime pay
- The maximum work week allotted by the US government is now a standard of Forty hours per week. Any time worked past the standard Forty hours calls for employers to pay employees at an over-time rate that is time-and-a-half the regularly paid rate.
New Child Labor Laws
- The law includes sections that restrict the number of hours a child can work and banned children under the age of 18 from working in extremely hazardous or dangerous jobs.
Underage Kids Working
Kids aged from 8-12 risk life and limb in such factories, to help support their family instead of going to school.
Women protest
Women protest, upset they are not included in the new FLSA mandate.
Kids suffer
Kids suffer cuts and burns in coal factories, picking the impurities out of coal at a local coal factory.
