What this means for you and your family

Fair Labor Standards Act Provisions

Living wage

  • A new and highly enforced living wage is now in affect for all employers and White, male employees. Employers will now be forced to pay white, male employees a minimum of .25 cents per hour of work.

Overtime pay

  • The maximum work week allotted by the US government is now a standard of Forty hours per week. Any time worked past the standard Forty hours calls for employers to pay employees at an over-time rate that is time-and-a-half the regularly paid rate.

New Child Labor Laws

  • The law includes sections that restrict the number of hours a child can work and banned children under the age of 18 from working in extremely hazardous or dangerous jobs.
