A Note from Mrs. Hicks
I can't believe that it is already December! We have been in school for 80 days! The next two weeks before Winter Break will be very busy. I know that things are busy, but please continue to support your child each night with reading at home. The children have made so much growth because of their hard work at school and home. Thank you for your continued support!
Winter Program: Thursday, December 18th - 7:00 PM
* The children will come to the classroom at 6:45 that night. You can hold on to their coat.
Winter Party: Friday, December 19th - 2:00
Monday, December 8th- Day 4, Art
Tuesday, December 9th- Day 1, Computer
Wednesday, December 10th - Day 2, P.E.
Thursday, December 11th - Day 3 - Music
Friday, December 12th - Day 4 - Art
Work Work: This will be the last week of word work before Winter Break. New words will go home on Monday and be tested on Friday.
Reading: We have been focusing on nonfiction text features. The students are recognizing the text features when reading and using them to help with comprehension.
Writing: We started to come up with a list of ideas for a "how to" writing piece. Students will be writing and publishing "how to" pieces over the next couple of weeks. I am going to allow them to use their writing to demonstrate their "how to" if they would like. It will have to be something that can be done in the classroom and they can bring in supplies. I'll send more information on this once they begin to write their pieces.
Math: We are problem solving, inspecting equations, practicing facts, and learning new things daily. I am amazed by how well the students are doing. We will continue to work on 2, 3,and 4 digit addition and subtraction with regrouping.
Social Studies: We are learning about landforms. We will be creating a project to show everything we have learned about landforms.
