Musk Ox Memo
............................2020-2021.......................
Dear Musk Ox Families,
It's hard to believe it's the middle of September already. Tomorrow is our last day for MAP testing and we have begun having our data meetings with teachers about our students individual needs. We are in the process of designing intervention schedules to accommodate these needs. Without looking at the formal data, what we know we know for sure, is that our students are already making great academic gains in the few weeks they have been in school!
Thank you for supporting your child's teacher this year and thank you for showing grace to them as they navigate being ready for for your child in class as well as any potential school closures and supporting those students that may not be at school due to illness or travel. Your teachers are navigating a lot this year. They have new curriculum and new online platforms to learn. With anything new it takes time and we appreciate your grace this year. Your students academic and social emotional growth are our number one priorities and we thank you for trusting us with your children!
In this together,
Jen Dowd
Nurse Amy is only available during her working hours of 8:45 am to 4:15 pm.
What's happening at Machetanz?
September - Monday- Thursday Cross Country practice for those 4th and 5th graders with permissions slips to participate 8am-9am
October 8: Picture Retake/Make-up Day
Positive COVID cases and no community spread
Thank you to all of our students and parents that are working with us and encouraging your students to wear masks in the K-2 classrooms where they are not required but highly encouraged. We want our students and staff to stay healthy and in school.
We want to be in school working with your children and not at home in a virtual model. The more we can follow our mitigation plans the longer we will be in session. The longer we are in session without additional cases the sooner we can plan other school activities.
Thank your for being part of our school and doing your part keeping us germ free so that we can be in session.
Need to pay a fee? Use School Cash Online
Our district uses School cash online to collect fees from parents. These fees can range from a sport or activity fee or a classroom fee for a field trip, etc.
Please do not send cash to school with your child to pay any fees and use school cash online. All fees are attached to your child's account for your ease.
To sign up for an account you need to know your students school id number. You can find your students ID number in ParentVue under student information.
School Lunch Program: Free for all students
2019-2020 YEARBOOK UPDATE
REMINDER: PLEASE BE KIND and PATIENT
- COVID-19.
- There are new procedures and policies we must follow and that can be frustrating for parents and staff alike.
- Students that exhibit symptoms of COVID are being sent home even if it's not COVID
- Something happens at school with your child and you are unable to come into the building
- Your student doesn't get off the bus at their bus stop- they may have fallen asleep on the ride home and missed their stop or they may have gotten on the wrong bus. Once this is brought to our attention and we call the bus barn the student is located with in a few minutes and we do our best to get the students to you promptly.
- You may not want to pull forward when being asked to by staff in the drop off or pick up lane- We are doing our best to keep traffic off Nelson Rd which will in turn allow you to get out of the parking lot quicker.
- The virtual learning platform is tough to navigate- we have plans to work with students at school to support them for when it is used at home.
Regardless of what has caused frustration, school staff are here to help you. Please be kind when calling and talking to the school staff whether it be the ladies in the front office who answer the phones, Nurse Amy or your classroom teacher. If you have feedback or concerns, please contact me directly but please do not take out your frustrations on the staff. They are just trying to help.
We are truly in this together, as these are not easy times for anyone.
Notice to Parents about At Home Learning and Recording of Zoom Lessons
In the event of school closures, our alternative location to pick up school lunch is Colony High School.
