New Covid-19 Quarantine Guidelines
Dear Parents/Guardians,
On 12/3/2020, I had my weekly meeting with the Washington Ozaukee Public Health Department (WOPHD). In that meeting, WOPHD and Washington County District Administrators spent a great deal of time talking about the CDC's new quarantine guidelines that were released earlier this week.
If you have not heard, the CDC has released new quarantine guidelines. This drops quarantining for close contacts from 14 days (24 if not able to isolate from a positive case) to 10 (20 if not able to isolate from a positive case). There is also the option of 7 days with a negative test on the 5th day and being symptom free. The County Health Department is not ready to take a stance on the 7 day rule because they need time to decide what tests to accept and what tests to not accept. The County and State need some time to sort this out because this revised stance from the CDC is brand new for everyone.
So, effective immediately, the County is switching to 10 days instead of 14 for close contacts. Like most if not all, Erin SD will also be adopting the 10 day plan immediately and retroactively to all in quarantine to align precisely with the County as we have been doing since we re-opened. Once I hear more about the 7 day plan, I will be in touch with you and share the County's guidance for us.
Thank you for your support and teamwork to keep Erin School face to face and open for our students and staff. Together Everyone Accomplishes More.
I am happy to inform you that we have not seen a spike in positive cases for students or parents, resulting in student quarantine due to the Thanksgiving break. This is great news. Thank you for your help in keeping our school healthy and face to face..

The gift cards can only be redeemed at Goeman’s RapidMarts in Erin and Hartford (including Uncle Larry’s Car Wash) and can be used to purchase anything they sell (gas, food, beverages, etc). These gift cards never expire and are available in $25, $50, and $100 denominations. For those of us that frequent Goeman’s BP on a regular basis, this is an easy way to help the school. Besides ordering gift cards for your own use, consider buying them as holiday gifts and taking orders from neighbors and friends.
Place your orders by filling out the order form and returning it along with your check(s) to the Erin School front office by Monday, Dec. 14. Gift cards will be ready for pick up in the office by Friday, Dec. 18. (Note: If you need gift cards earlier in Dec. contact the office and we can fill orders earlier on an as needed basis).
* Holiday Craft-Looking for something to entertain the kids this weekend? The PTC is sending home ornament kits today for every 4K-5th grade student. Normally we host Holiday Craft Day at school and assist the students in making ornaments however in this unnormal year we decided to send home supplies and instructions for making the ornaments. Please look in your students backpack for the kit. Spend a little family time making the ornaments and using them to decorate your tree!
Besides making ornaments the students usually make holiday cards at Holiday Craft Day. This year the cards or letters were made in the classroom. The PTC was able to give Support the Troops almost 300 cards or letters made by our 5K - 8th grade students. These cards and letters will be shared with troops around the world this holiday season.
Thank you to the teachers for helping the students make the cards and letters. Thank you to the parents who helped prepare the ornament kits.
