Red Apple Award Winner
Our 2018 Red Apple Award winner is Ashliegh McCarty. Ashliegh always has students' best interests at heart and she pushes kids to get better at everything they do. Ashliegh is an outstanding teacher and a true advocate for children. Ashliegh is passionate about learning and students understand this. They almost always strive to meet her high expectations. One staff member said the following, " I would want my own child to have Mrs. McCarty as a teacher. "
Star Award Winner
Kelly Thomas, Barry school nurse is our STAR Award winner! Kelly is an amazing advocate for all children. Kelly is professional , knowledgeable, and caring. We are lucky to have such a great nurse here at Barry!
Staff Updates
Leona Baskerville will be moving to our open 8th grade math position next year. Jeff and I are currently scheduling and completing interviews for social worker, world language, and 5th grade.
Graduation Walk 2018
Following the Class of 2018's graduation practice and lunch on May 18, seniors will be continuing the tradition of walking the halls of our elementary and middle schools with our younger Pirates and staff members lining the hallways (or fields) to cheer them on! Seniors will arrive at Barry around 1:30. Please refer to Jeff's email which was sent earlier this week for directions and the walking route.
Congratulations to Dana Shafar! She was awarded a $600 Education Foundation Grant!

Staff Hours for 2018-2019
As a reminder, our hours next year have changed. School will begin at 7:40 and end at 2:50. Breakfast will tentatively begin at 7:25 and end at 7:40. Teachers will need to be ready to monitor hallways and be at their supervision assignment at 7:25. Teachers will be able to leave the building at 2:55. (7.5 hour day)
