The Center for Scholarship Administration is proud to serve as the administrator of the following scholarship programs. The funds are provided through the generosity of corporations, foundations, individuals and trust funds.
All of these programs require that you submit information from other sources. It is imperative that you read the Guidelines and Instructions prior to starting your on-line application process so that you will have the information readily available. Please print this information. Answers to most of your questions will be covered here. After you read the Guidelines and Instructions you will be able to apply online for the scholarship of your choice.
Spartanburg Methodist College Scholars

The Wendy's High School Heisman

The Wendys High School Heisman competition is now open to all seniors who have at least a ‘B’ average and participate in high school athletics. Apply online at www.wendysheisman.com. List your counselor as your reviewer. You will need a copy of your transcript to refer to when you apply. Each high school will have a male and female winner and each will then compete at the state and potentially national level. The deadline to apply is 6 pm October 2, 2015.
AES Engineering Scholarships

AES Engineering Scholarships of $500 are offered based on an essay. The deadline to submit essays is October 7, 2015.
The Horatio Alger Association Scholarship
Amount: $22,000

The Horatio Alger Association provides 106 $22,000 scholarships for students who have financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required) and who have a GPA of at least 2.0. Applicants should also be involved in co-curricular and community service activities. Apply online. The deadline to apply is October 25, 2015.
The Coca-Cola Scholars Program

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors each year. 150 $20,000 scholarships will be awarded. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, and their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). The deadline to apply is Oct. 31, 2015.
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation
Amount: up to $40,000/year
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation offers scholarships to high-achieving high school seniors with financial need who seek to attend the nation’s best 4-year colleges and universities. Students selected as Jack Kent Cooke Scholars may receive up to $40,000 per year for four years. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, SAT of at least 1200 or ACT of at least 26 and demonstrated financial need (family income up to $95,000.) The deadline to apply is Nov. 1, 2015.
VFW Voice of Deomcracy

Each year, nearly 40,000 high school students from across the country enter to win a share of the $2 million in educational scholarships and incentives awarded through the VFW’s Voice of Democracy audio-essay competition.
The VFW established the Voice of Democracy program (VOD) in 1947 to provide students grades 9-12 the opportunity to express themselves in regards to democratic ideas and principles.
The national first-place winner receives a $30,000 scholarship paid directly to the recipient’s American university, college or vocational/technical school. Other national scholarships range from $1,000-$16,000, and the first-place winner from each (state) VFW Department wins a minimum scholarship of $1,000 and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C.
The Prudential Spirit of Community Award
Amount: $1,000
The Prudential Spirit of Community Award is based on academics and community service. Two state winners will win $1,000 scholarships and a trip to Washington, D.C. The national winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship. Access a nomination form online. Complete the form and email to your counselor to certify. The deadline to complete the application is November 3, 2015. Your certifier will then have until Nov. 10 to review and submit your application.
The South Carolina Teaching Fellows Program

The South Carolina Teaching Fellows Program was created to recruit talented high school seniors into the teaching profession. High school seniors who are legal South Carolina residents may apply. Selection is based on academic achievement, community and school involvement, references, interview, and writing assessment. Teaching Fellows participate in advanced enrichment programs in Teaching Fellows Institutions, professional development opportunities during summer months, involvement with communities and businesses throughout the state and receive up to $6000 in yearly scholarships for four years (up to a total of $24,000) while they complete a degree leading to teacher certification. A Fellow agrees to teach in South Carolina one year for every year he/she received the Fellowship. Students must attend one of these institutions: Anderson University, Charleston Southern University, Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, Columbia College, Francis Marion University, Lander, Newberry, USC-Aiken, USC-Columbia, USC-Upstate or Winthrop. This award may be combined with either Palmetto Fellows or LIFE Scholarships. Apply online. The online application will open on Sept. 1 and the deadline is December 1, 2015 11:45 pm. All letters of recommendation and transcripts must be received by 5:00 pm Dec. 7, 2015.

The AXA Achievement Scholarship

The AXA Achievement Scholarship offers college scholarships of $10,000 and $25,000 to high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their activities in school, the community or the workplace. The scholarship is sponsored by the AXA Foundation, the philanthropic arm of AXA US. The 2016 program will be accepting applications from September 10, 2015 until 10,000 applications are submitted or 11:59 p.m. CST on December 15, 2015, whichever comes first. Your application MUST be one of the first 10,000 submitted electronically by the deadline date. Apply early!
The Gates Millennium Scholarship

The Gates Millennium Scholarship sponsors 1000 students who will be named Gates Millennium Scholars. The eligibility criteria is: 1) African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, or Hispanic American 2) citizen/legal permanent resident of the U.S. 3) GPA of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale 4) will be enrolling at a U.S. accredited college or university for the first time in the Fall after their senior year 5) have demonstrated leadership abilities 6) meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility status as determined by FAFSA 7) Submit all 3 required forms Apply online. Harry Hampton Fund Scholarships

- Harry Hampton Scholarship: $5,000/year up to 4 years($20,000) for students interested in majoring in natural resources disciplines of wildlife biology, fisheries biology, forestry, marine or environmental science.
- Wallace F. Pate Scholarship: One time $1,500 for students interested in majoring in natural resources disciplines of wildlife biology, fisheries biology, forestry, marine or environmental science.
- David M. Cline Scholarship: One time $2,000 for students who wish to further their education in law enforcement, criminal justice, or forensic science.
- James O. Thomason Scholarship: $2,000/year for up to 4 years ($8,000) for students who wish to further their education in print or photo journalism, advertising, public relations, or mass communications.
