Thank you for a great week

The first week of school was fantastic! We had a great time getting to know your students. I have had the opportunity to watch them in class with teachers and continue to be amazed by them and the teaching staff.

Mondays are Collaboration Days!

Collaboration Days end the school day early and allows staff to work together and attend meetings.You can view all of our bell schedules on our website.

NEW Tardy Policy

It is important for your child to be on time to class. Students miss out on vital information and instruction when they arrive tardy to class. Starting this week, students tardy to class 3 or more times in a week will be assigned lunch detention.

Please impress upon your student the importance of arriving to class on time.

Start Smart on Tuesday

All students must complete the CHP Start Smart class prior to obtaining a parking permit; the schedule is on the school website. Only vehicles registered in the student’s or parent’s name, with proof of insurance in the vehicle, will be permitted to park on campus. Drivers must also be in possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

Friday is Odin's Procession!

Odin's procession is this coming Friday, August 26th. The day starts early with the KUSI Alarm Clock Pep Rally. Parents are invited to join us for Shadow Day. This year, Shadow Day will look different than in years past. We will have opportunities for parents to hear from counselors and administrators. All are invited to join us for Odin's Procession later that morning.


Parents will be able to tour their child's classroom and meet the teachers during Back to School night on Wednesday, September 7th. More information to follow.


That evening, we have our first home Football game vs. Granite Hills. Kickoff is at 7, so come cheer on your Norsemen to victory!

Senior College & Career Night

Senior Students and Parents, mark your calendars for Wednesday, August 31st! We will be hosting a College and Career Night to provide you with information to help plan your next steps. We will hold a main session in the Valhalla Theater starting at 6pm that will cover postsecondary planning and essential senior year info. Families will then have the opportunity to attend several different breakout sessions led by counselors and college reps.


Breakout sessions will cover topics such as four-year college applications, financial aid and scholarships, community college opportunities, military options, and career resources.


Both students and parents are encouraged to attend!

All Students Eat for FREE


  • All students are eligible to receive a free breakfast and lunch for the 2022-2023 school year.
  • Important: To receive their free meals, students will need to provide their student ID number at every meal. Students can select one serving from multiple options. Additional servings are available for purchase and will be charged to the student ID number.
  • Breakfast will be available from 7:30-8:30 AM each school day.

Students can purchase insurance for their Chromebook!

The Grossmont Union High School District offers an optional Chromebook Protection Plan to students and families. The plan may be purchased yearly or in a multi-year offering at a discount. Students/parents that do not opt-in to the warranty program shall be responsible for fines equal to the current replacement cost of the materials and/or parts.


All plans must be purchased from the Finance Office or WEBSTORE by September 23rd. New Students have 30 days to purchase a plan.


Completing a Survey Gives Valhalla $$$

You may have received a link to the Annual Family Information Form (AFIF) from the district office. The information collected through the AFIF brings additional funding to Valhalla - which allows us to have additional elective courses, reduce class size and support the many amazing programs we offer our students.

Valhalla’s PTO is eager to get back to school and support the programs that have become tradition at Valhalla! Grad Nite, Baccalaureate, Scholarships, Teacher Grants, Educational Programs, Test Snacks, Hospitality and more, are just a few of the things we support. Whether you are a new parent to the school or returning, you can count on us to stay up to date with all the happenings at school! We know that navigating high school is not only a challenge for the students, but for the parents as well.


We are here to support you as parents at Valhalla. Please check out our PTO website to learn about us and see how you can help! Join us by becoming a member, purchasing class T-shirts and swag! All your donations stay directly at Valhalla and will be used to sponsor events and

activities for the students, teachers, and community. You do not have to volunteer your time to become a member. However, we would love to have you whenever you are available to help! Sign up to be a volunteer!
