Fulton Focus
For the parents and patrons of the Fulton School District
August 25, 2017
A message from the Superintendent
Dear Parents and Patrons,
School has started, and classrooms are in full swing. Students are engaged in a variety of meaningful activities. The Total Eclipse was an added bonus for this year. Most all students participated, seemed to have a good time, and were even exposed to good science in the process. A hidden bonus was our parent volunteers. About 230 individuals signed up to support our kids! In my view, this school year start has been extremely positive!
Next week, the Annual Tax Levy Hearing and Special Board meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Central Office. Last January, the Administration was authorized to budget funds to prepay $350,000 in bonded debt. This action will save taxpayers an estimated $11,100 in future interest expenses. Board action at this meeting confirms prior actions and authorizes technical resolutions and forms required by various statutes.
The Operating and Debt Service tax levies are being recommended in accordance with various statutes, regulations, and instructions from the Missouri State Auditor. The recommendation is for a total levy of $4.0862 per $100 of Assessed Valuation, which is a $0.2757 levy decrease from the prior year. The following chart compares the past year levy with the current recommendation.
A complete Board of Education agenda and levy presentation materials will be posted on the FPS web site under the Board of Education tab and the 2017-2018 Budget is available in the Quick Links list.
As you discuss the school day with your student(s), please encourage and support completion of academic work, positive behavior, attendance every day, and willingness to work with all students and staff.
Thank you to those parents who volunteered during the Eclipse; with your help, it was a great activity!
We are excited to be a part of you student’s life. Our community depends on each of us working to develop stellar future citizens!
Sincerely,
Jacque A. Cowherd, Ed.D.

ELECTRONIC FLYER DELIVERY
The Fulton Public School District delivers school information and approved flyers from community organizations electronically. These school-approved eflyers are emailed directly to you. Additionally you can view eflyers by clicking the Peachjar button on your school’s website homepage.
This “green” initiative saves our schools tons of paper and reduces copy costs by thousands of dollars. On top of that, posting school flyers in this electronic backpack removes a significant administrative burden from teachers, office staff, and volunteers.
If we have your email address on file, then no action is required on your part. If your child has moved to a new school in the district, you will receive eflyers from the new school. If you have not provided your email address, please do so to avoid missing important information.
When you receive your first eflyer, be sure to click “always display images.”
This system is used exclusively for distribution of school-approved flyers. Your email address will not be shared or used for any other purpose. Thank you for supporting our efforts to ensure parents are well informed about school programs, activities, and events.
