FARMING
Peasant farmers paid high taxes.Pairs of oxen pulled plows on farms and farmers would also raise livestock.Important crops included wheat and barley and important vegetable crops included onions, garlic, leeks, and peas. plants were protected from the scorching sun and hot winds by tall date palm trees and smaller fruit trees.
LEADERS
Important leaders included hammurabi, (who made the first law code) and the gilgamesh of urk who ruled with great power. Also sargon who established the akkadian kingdom. Other leaders included the Sumerians and ur-nammu.
BELIEFS
They believed the world was a flat disk that was surrounded by a vast hollow space and this was enclosed in an over-arching heaven. they believed the sea was around all earth. they believed in gods of nature like the sun god and wind god. when a body was buried it was usually wrapped in reed matting or placed in a coffin. the tombs were furnished according to what the family could afford.

The population is 31,129,225 people. 97% of people are Muslim and the unemployment rate is 15%. Main industries are petroleum, chemicals and textiles. it is still a developing country.
