Monday Memo
Week of June 15, 2020
June 15th.....already?!
A few photo reminders of why we are doing what we're doing.....
Breanna and her new frog friend.
Elijah and his new turtle friend.
Lucas and his new snail friend.
A few other bits of information......
Teacher Candidates
A reminder that if you are interested in hosting a teacher candidate for next year (recognizing we have no idea what next year will look like!) please let me know by Wednesday, June 17th. Thank you!
Division Check-Ins
This week I'll be hosting division check-ins, as there will probably be some things to review before the end of the school year (and at this point division specific, smaller chats are probably more helpful). I'll send an invite to each of you in MS Teams.
Classroom Moves, Classroom Clean up, Picking up belongings
Beginning on Monday, we'll have 3 teachers in each day to pack up, move, pick up belongings, etc. When you arrive at the school, I'll have a few things for you, including a checklist of "to do's" on the front table. John and Josh have started the cleaning process, so in many rooms you'll find your desks and chairs have already been washed and piled. This will help to narrow down exactly what needs to get done! For now, please don't worry about anything involving OSR's - we are still awaiting direction in this area. Your focus will be on your classroom and getting things ready for John and Josh to do their deep summer clean.
When you come in, please bring your classroom key. You'll be asked to leave it in an envelope in a box at the front table. Thank you!
There will be rolling carts available for anyone that needs one. You can also access the shredders, etc. - please just be reminded to keep your 6 foot distance from colleagues at all times. If you have any specific questions about this process, please just let me know!
End of Year Staff Video
A big thank you to Sally who has offered to put our end of year video together. Please ensure that you send your photo and message to her by Monday, June 15th so that she has time to pull it all together.
Report Cards and IEP's
Thank you for all your hard work in getting these done - especially with changing messages (including those that arrive at the last minute!). I'm doing all reading online and will make any small corrections for you as I go. Once I'm done your set, I'll email you to let you know. Distribution and printing is still being determined - I believe we will be sending electronically, but will let you know more when I receive the info.
Cleaning Products
Given all that is going on, you may be tempted to bring in cleaning products from home (either now when you're packing up or in August when you come back). Just a reminder from the board office that we are only allowed to use Board approved cleaning products. If you need anything - please ask John as he is aware of what is allowed (or not!). This includes things like hand sanitizers and wipes.
Calendar of Events
Just a reminder that everything happening for our school is now listed in the Staff Edsby calendar.
Story time with Mrs. Sampson
This week our Storytime Live on YouTube will be the book Drawing Lessons from a Bear by David McPhail. It's a great book about growth mindset! Feel free to tune in on Wednesday, June 17th at 3pm. It would be wonderful if you would promote with your students as well. Thanks!
Just one more thing....
Some people are better at seeing silver linings than others...not always my strength. BUT - this reminds us that in fact, there is a lot of good that has come out of this crazy year. Take a peek.
