How can a week be anything but amazing when it starts with an assembly on the playground? We all gathered for our first all school community meeting and enjoyed the change of scenery for morning announcements! Last year's Student Council members led the assembly and then were the first students who were able to play on the new equipment with our kindergarteners - after we christened the slide of course! The phrase, "That was best recess ever!" was heard over and over again throughout the day! Some pictures are posted below - a video of more is coming soon! Thank you to Mrs. Whitelaw and Mrs. Hughes for being our photographers.
Another highlight of the week was our celebration of International Dot Day. Click here to read the blog post that describes our celebration in more detail. You will be impressed by the students' responses to the question, "How will you make your mark at RLS this year?" Stay tuned for pictures of our bulletin board created by students.
Lastly, I wanted to take this opportunity to give a shout out to the students in Mrs. Sheldon's class, Mrs. Cranston's class and Ms. Berner's class. On Friday our Fundations Coach joined us for a coaching session. Teachers from Hardwick joined us as teachers in K-2 learned about our new phonics and spelling program. Mrs. Harrington, our coach, went into these three classrooms and modeled a lesson for the teachers as a launching point of our time with her. Students took their role of the "teachers' teachers" very seriously :) They did an excellent job and stepped up to the challenge of showing off their learning in front of 12 adults. Thank you for your efforts and for representing RLS so well.
See you tomorrow for another engaging week of learning,
A big thank you to all of the parents who worked hard to raise the funds for this playground. We greatly appreciate your efforts! Thank you also to Senator Brewer for his assistance in raising funds!
