School of Champions
A Message from Mr. Rother
It is with excitement that I welcome all of you to another outstanding year at Chandler High School. Chandler High School is the School of Champions, and this is true in the classroom, in our extra-curricular programs and on the athletic field. Chandler High is an “A” label school by the Arizona Department of Education and last year was awarded our seventh A+ School Award by the Arizona Education Foundation, making CHS the only school in Arizona to win this award seven times. Our graduating class (Class of 2015) earned over 22 million dollars in scholarships to universities across the world. In addition, Chandler High was home to individual State Champions in Swimming, Girls Track, DECA and FFA, and our Football and Boys Soccer teams both were crowned state champions! Although the 2014-15 school year was one of the best in school history, we’re looking forward to an even better 2015-16!
This year marks Chandler High’s 101st year as the cornerstone of education in our community and continues our tradition of excellence. Chandler High School has come a very long way since 1914 when we opened our doors to 19 students. This year we are home to over 3200 students, with nearly 30% of our students attending Chandler High by choice on open enrollment, which ranks #1 for high schools in the Chandler Unified School District. We are proud to lead CUSD as the high school of choice, and we are glad that you have chosen to make Chandler the high school for your child.
CHS Link Crew
CHS Link Crew hosted Freshman Orientation on Friday, July 17th. The Link Crew helped form a gauntlet with CHS Teachers to “clap in” CHS’s newest students and then helped them get to know other Chandler Wolves and the campus. The event also included a Parent Meeting with CHS Principal Mr. Rother and counselors. Great job, Link Crew!
Chandler FFA attended the State FFA Leadership Conference on June 4th and competed in the State FFA Conduct of Meetings Career Development Event. Students presented a 10 minute Parliamentary Procedure demonstration extemporaneously, which included the FFA opening ceremonies. The contest included an online test on Parli-Pro knowledge and questioning after demonstration. The Chandler FFA team placed 1st and will represent Arizona in the National Conduct of Meeting CDE in Louisville, Kentucky this October. Excellent work, Wolves!
CHS Swimmer Mark Jurek
Mark Jurek, a CHS Senior, continues to excel in the swimming pool, and according to USA Swimming, is the number one recruit in the senior class. Mark will compete at Junior Nationals at the end of July, and his results will determine if he makes the World Junior Championship Team and compete in Singapore later this summer. Congratulations and good luck, Mark!
CHS Open House
CHS will host Parents’ Open House on Thursday, July 30th beginning at 6:00 p.m. Please plan on attending the Opening Meeting in the CCA to meet administrators and counselors and hear an overview of the numerous programs CHS has to offer. From 6:30-8:30 p.m., parents are invited to visit their children’s classrooms as well as displays in the courtyard. Click here for more Open House info, noting the change in format this year. Additionally, click here for Wolf Pack FAQs, a valuable source for CHS families.
