Dear Parents,

Last week we had an introduction to renewable and nonrenewable resources with Mr. Mark! The students got to mine for chocolate chips using cookies! It was great to see how careful they were when digging for the chocolate chips. Pictures to come soon!

HELP WANTED: I am looking for a few parents who would like to host our fall party on October 29. It would be from 2:15-3:00. Please let me know if you are interested!

Who made their goal?

The following students made their AR goal this 9 weeks. Congrats! We will celebrate with a party on the 22nd.

Vocabulary Skill: Prefixes/Suffixes: -un, -in, -less, -able

Comprehension Skill: Cause & Effect- A cause is why something happens. An effect is what happens. Sometimes a cause may lead to more than one effect. Some effects may have more than one cause.

Convention Skill:Common and Proper Nouns: Common nouns name any persons, places, or things. Common nouns begin with lower case letters unless they are at the beginnings of sentences. For example: goldfish, eggplant. Proper Nouns name particular persons, places, or things. They begin with capital letters. Some have more than one word. For example: Kelly, Martin, Mrs. Yee.

Spelling Skill: Ar or Or: The vowel sound in arm is often spelled ar: start. The vowel sound in for is often spelled or: morning.


Narrative Writing: Narrative Writing tells a personal or fictional experience or tells a story based on a real or imagined event.

This week we will be working on personal narratives.


Here are the skills we will be working on this week. (Only if you are in Miss Mitchell or Mrs. Davis's math classes)

Please continue to practice math facts (addition & subtraction) and skip counting.

I have printed out flash cards if the students would like to use those to study.

Monday: Multiplying by 0,1, & 2, & 5

Tuesday: Multiplying by 9, 10, 11, and 12's

Wednesday: STAR assessment

Thursday: Multiplying by 3,4,6, 7, & 8

Friday: Mastering Math Facts
