Dear Lynch Families,
Happy New Year and welcome back! I hope you all enjoyed the vacation and are ready to return! Our staff is looking forward to the best year yet.
In January we conduct our winter reading assessment as well as our iReady Math and Reading Diagnostic assessments. These assessments provide us valuable information on how our students are progressing in Math and Reading. The information from these assessments as well as their progress from the beginning half of the year will be shared with you at report card time. We are intentionally focusing on encouraging students to do their best and increasing the rigor during this middle part of our school year. At the end of the month, teachers will be preparing the report cards and these will be sent home in early February. Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
The New Year is a great time to set goals! Please consider making two goals with your child. One goal could be reading with them or to them every night and the other goal is having them at school at least 95% of the time. Currently our school-wide attendance percentage is: 86% (we had lots of illness in December). Did you know that research shows students who attend school 95% of the time are 11 times more likely to graduate. We are looking forward to seeing all of our cubs everyday in 2023.
We have recently hired some new teachers and specialists at MA Lynch! Please welcome Drew Hopper, Sped Teacher, Janice Durham, Sped Teacher and Amie Kilgore, librarian. We are very excited to have them join our team!
How are your children recognized at Lynch Elementary? We have various systems in place. Here is a brief overview of some of our main ones:
All students are taught a character trait every 4-6 weeks. This trait will be reinforced during the daily morning message and classroom morning meetings. Students consistently demonstrating the trait will receive a character trait charm. Attendance, Run Club and iReady math charms can also be earned throughout the year. Students are working to collect as many charms as they can.
Cub Prides-All Students can earn Cub Prides when they demonstrate specific positive behaviors. Positive student behavior is honored. Student names are read during Morning Messages each morning. It is always a wonderful way to start the day and honor our amazing Lynch Cubs!
Character Trait Awards- Character Trait Awards are given to students during our Cub Pride Assemblies who consistently demonstrate the character trait. Chosen students take home a certificate and a yard sign to proudly display for the next month.
Self Manager Program- the Self Manager program is a leadership program in which 3rd-5th grade students are eligible to apply. The rigorous process requires students to fill out an application and all staff members must “sign off,” indicating recognition of positive behavior at Lynch and that the student is ready for the highest level of leadership. We are excited to begin this program again.

¡Feliz año nuevo y bienvenido de nuevo! ¡Espero que todos hayan disfrutado de las vacaciones y estén listos para regresar! Nuestro personal espera con ansias el mejor año hasta ahora.
En enero llevamos a cabo nuestra evaluación de lectura de invierno, así como nuestras evaluaciones de diagnóstico de lectura y matemáticas iReady. Estas evaluaciones nos brindan información valiosa sobre el progreso de nuestros estudiantes en Matemáticas y Lectura. La información de estas evaluaciones, así como su progreso desde el comienzo de la mitad del año, se compartirá con usted en el momento de la boleta de calificaciones. Nos estamos enfocando intencionalmente en alentar a los estudiantes a hacer lo mejor posible y aumentar el rigor durante esta parte media de nuestro año escolar. Al final del mes, los maestros prepararán las boletas de calificaciones y estas se enviarán a casa a principios de febrero. No dude en comunicarse con el maestro de su hijo si tiene alguna pregunta.
¡El Año Nuevo es un buen momento para establecer metas! Por favor considere hacer dos metas con su hijo. Una meta podría ser leer con ellos o para ellos todas las noches y la otra meta es tenerlos en la escuela al menos el 95 % del tiempo. ¿Cómo son reconocidos sus hijos en Lynch Elementary? Contamos con varios sistemas. Aquí hay una breve descripción de algunos de nuestros principales:

- Premios al rasgo de carácter: los premios al rasgo de carácter se otorgan a los estudiantes durante nuestras Asambleas de Orgullo Cub que demuestran constantemente el rasgo de carácter. Los estudiantes elegidos se llevan a casa un certificado y un letrero en el jardín para exhibirlos con orgullo durante el próximo mes.
- Programa de autogestión: el programa de autogestión es un programa de liderazgo en el que los estudiantes de 3.° a 5.° grado son elegibles para postularse. El proceso riguroso requiere que los estudiantes llenen una solicitud y todos los miembros del personal deben "firmar", lo que indica el reconocimiento del comportamiento positivo en Lynch y que el estudiante está listo para el más alto nivel de liderazgo. Estamos emocionados de comenzar este programa nuevamente.
