Through the Bucks County Library, our students have access to many different subject guides and tutorials including many on Mathematics. Learn how to access them here.
The Britannica Guide to Algebra and Trigonometry
Provides the history and basic terms and concepts of both algebra and trigonometry. Profiles prominent mathematicians in both fields. Includes illustrations and a glossary.
The Britannica Guide to Analysis and Calculus
Provides information about concepts in analysis and calculus as well as other areas of analysis. Discusses the history of analysis and its great figures and includes an index.
The Britannica Guide to Geometry
A textbook on geometry covering the history and branches of geometry and profiling great geometers. Also includes an appendix of geometric terms and concepts.
The Britannica Guide to Statistics and Probability
Introduces the historical and mathematical basis of statistics and probability as well as their application to everyday situations. Also explores the lives of prominent thinkers who advanced the field and established a numerical basis for prediction.
What are the Chances?
Presents a guide for understanding the mathematical concepts and real-world applications of probability and statistics, including classroom tips, common terms such as outliers, and exercises to encourage hands-on practice. Includes a glossary, sources of more information, and an answer key.
The History of Mathematics : A Brief Course
Describes the evolution of mathematics through history and organizes information by the different areas of mathematics, such as color plates, space, algebra, analysis, mathematical inference, and numbers. Explores how each culture developed its own solutions to each topic and the effects of these solutions on each culture. Also includes questions and problems for each chapter.
