Intro to Genetics

Genetics is in the study of genes and heredity in living organisms. Its in the field of biology.Aspects of human and animal genes.Genes also determine what a human or animal trait is.

Dominant Traits

Dominant Traits what you would see in a child. Dominant traits would normally come from one of the parents. The mom might have brown hair and the dad might have black hair what every color hair the child will get that parent will have the dominant trait.

Recessive Traits

Recessive Traits are when both parents have the same type of trait they both might have brown hair or the same color eyes. When the parents have a child the child would have the same trait as both of its parents. So it will be a Recessive Trait.

DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid)

Deoxyribonucleic acid is a molecule that carries most of the genetic instructions used for growth, development, functioning and reproduction of all known living organisms.DNA contains the specific instructions that make each type of living creature unique.

Chromosomes

Chromosomes are thread-like structures located inside the nucleus of animal and plant cells. Each chromosome is made of molecules of DNA. Passed from parents to the child. DNA contains the specific instructions that make each type of living creature unique.

Homozygous

Alternative forms of a given gene are called alleles, and they can be dominant or recessive. When an individual has two of the same allele, whether dominant or recessive, they are homozygous.
