Race for Education - October 18, 2019

On Friday, October 18, 2019, EES will participate in our annual Race for Education! We invite family and friends to join us in helping to raise funds for iPad Minis, field trips, classroom needs, and PTA sponsored events. Each participant will raise funds by asking sponsors to contribute a tax deductible donation to the PTA. The past five years for Race for Education have been successful. With your help this year, we are sure to raise lots of money for our students.

Students will walk or jog around Stonewall park as many times as they are able in one hour's time. Students and classes will also have an opportunity to receive a number of prizes based on their participation in Race for Education.

Specific instructions are contained in the material that will come home with your child. Please join us at the park for this special event.

Responsiblity

For the next six weeks, we are focusing on being responsible. This pillar of character is very important. We are looking for students who control their own actions, decide for their actions to be positive, and always tries their best. These students will be nominated by their teacher and get their picture on the "Character" Bulletin Board outside the library.

October is Celebrating Differences Month

During the month of October, EES will welcome guests with various disabilities to learn about their experiences and deepen our understanding and respect for those who may be different from ourselves. Each week during the month of October, we will gather in an assembly to learn more about them.

On October 7th, Jackie Larrauri will be visiting the school. She is a student at JMU and will be graduating this spring. She does not let her blindness keep her from pursuing her passions. She loves to bake and read Harry Potter books.

RCPS looking for Bus Drivers

The next CDL class will be November 13-15. RCPS could use more bus drivers. Contact Alvin Estep if interested- aestep@rockingham.k12.va.us. He is the Director of Transportation.

Cafeteria News

Next week October the 7th-11th is Fire Prevention Week and Farm to School Week we would like to do something special in the cafeteria for this week.

On Monday,Tuesday, and Thursday- we would love if we could get some fire fighters to come serve lunch or just walk around, and talk with kids about fire prevention during lunch.

On Wednesday and Friday-if possible we would like to have farmers to come help serve lunch or walk around and talk to the students. We would also like if we could get people to bring in some farm animals for the students to see. If you are able to bring any animals please see Mrs. Palmer. We are hoping to set up a little barn yard Wednesday afternoon.

Thanks so much

Patrick Stapleton is partnering with EES to build a Green House in one of our courtyards. The link takes you to his proposal. If you have any connections in helping him obtain the materials, that would be wonderful.
