Choir Members Represent at District 11 Chorus Festival
At this past weekend’s Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 11 Chorus Festival at Spring-Ford High School, Cheltenham junior Colin Polisano qualified for the Region VI Chorus Festival March 1-3 at Central Bucks High School South. Social Studies PBL Students Partner with Township on Sustainability Plan
Aiming to encourage Cheltenham residents to participate in the township’s sustainable plan, Project Based Learning freshmen Fatimata Mainassara, Elijah Foggie and Stefan Rogowski presented sustainable gardening marketing literature, multimedia advertisements and promotional plan they created to Township Public Information Officer Nancy Gibson on Monday, Jan. 22. The project “gave them a taste of the real world,” said teacher Mike Kwas. “They may not have realized it at the time, but some day they’ll look back and realize the value of the experience.” Read more>
New York Times Best-selling Author Laurie Halse Anderson Donates Writing Class Proceeds To Cheltenham High School English Department
New York Times best-selling and internationally-acclaimed author Laurie Halse Anderson recently taught an adult writing class at Open Book bookstore in Elkins Park and requested owner Lynn Rosen donate the proceeds to Cheltenham High School’s English Department. “A donation of over $450 was made to our department,” said CHS English Department Chair, Keziah LaTorre. “These funds will be put to good use.” Read more>
Elkins Park School Leadership Academy Hosts Annual Tie Ceremony
The 2018 Leadership Academy, lead by Mrs. Smith, Mr. Vassall, and Mr. Crutchfield, hosted its annual Tie Ceremony Tuesday morning in Kircher Hall at Elkins Park School. Family, friends and members of the community attended the event, and Dr. Marseille and Dr. Doria spoke about the importance of leadership, and what that looks like inside and outside school. High school students from the Senior Scholar Mentors spoke with and assisted 6th graders with tying their ties. Dedicated to the pursuit of excellence, responsibility and unity, the Leadership Academy is an after-school program for African-American boys and aims to eliminate the achievement gap.
Blue and Gold Hype Video
This year's CHS Blue & Gold committee has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to prepare for the B&G Pep Rally Friday, Feb. 9 and week's worth of events leading up to the annual Blue & Gold Night Friday, March 2. To spread Panther Pride, the students created this music video with lyrics by senior Zack Gharrafi and direction from senior Jake Rucket. A parody of Lil Pump's hit "Gucci Gang," the video was filmed at CHS with B&G committee members and the Panther.
