# Kraft Class Update

## Top Dog:

Our Top Dog for the week was Gavin. Gavin likes to travel to Atlanta and Canton. He enjoys walking his dogs and playing with his sisters. Gavin has a pet dog and bird! He likes to read books about Dinosaurs. Thanks for sharing, Gavin!

## 2nd Step: Recognize the Problem

This week with Mrs. Ross we talked about recognizing the problem and brainstorming smart solutions. Thanks, Mrs. Ross!

## Math: Halves and Fourths

This week we explored halves and fourths of a whole. To practice this, we started by folding a rectangle into 4 equal parts. By the end of the week, the students were able to compose shapes divided into halves and fourths!

Memory words: would, could, some, one, new, were

Spelling Pattern: We two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking (beak, paint, snail, pie, boat… )

## Writing

This week we focused on "stretching out the solution". This graphic organizer helped us do this. In order to stretch on the solution, the character attempts to solve the problem and fails. Then the character must then try another way within the story.

## WINTER GEAR

Please make sure that all your child's winter gear is labeled with your child's name. Also, we go to PE, Music and Art first thing almost every morning. If your child does not need to wear snow pants to school in the morning, it would be appreciated if they could be brought in a bag instead of your child wearing them. The same will be done at the end of the day. This will allow us to save that time for academic purposes. However, we will give them time to put on snow pants before recess so that they are warm and ready to play in the snow!
