Old Man Winter Strikes Again!
Hello GBS Bobcats;
Hello all Bobcats, big and small! We hope that you all stayed safe and warm this past week. As for my family and I, we spent several days digging out (we got over 3' of snow in New Ipswich!), and didn't have internet or power for most of the week. I will say that, when all was said and done, it was a relief to have those modern conveniences back. We witnessed many neighbors and friends assisting each other in this effort, and I am sure some of you assisted or were assisted by others as well. That is part of what we most love about this community: the willingness we all have to help each other when there is a need.
The admin did want to mention that there has been a recent spat of negative interactions lately among middle-schoolers outside of school, especially on the Snapchat App, so we are asking that you keep an eye out on this particular form of social media especially. Also, you may have gotten an SAU email or phone call over the weekend, which mentioned that our bus routes are back to normal. Thank you for your patience and help in getting our students and neighbors back on their regular routine and out the door!
Note that spring sports are happening soon, so if you have 6-8th graders who want to participate in Track, Baseball or Softball, look for continued signups in the cafeteria, or visit the front office to get more info. Also, read on below for more news, such as our upcoming Music & Band Concert tonight at ConVal HS, or the Craft Fair held at GBS on Saturday!
Be well;
- Joe Wright, Assistant Principal
Quote of the Day:
“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated.
In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can
know who you are,
[know] what you can rise from,
[and learn} how you can still come out of it.”
- Maya Angelou
8th Grade Transitions Continue!
Students continue to meet with our counselors regarding schedules and options as they prepare to enter high school next year. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Laura Gourlay (lgourlay@conval.edu) or Katie Hiers (khiers@conval.edu).
Please reach out if you need any assistance with this.

Mattress Fundraiser (New Date, thanks to the snow!)
Save the date! GBS, SMS and CVHS are joining forces Sunday, April 2nd, 10 AM - 4 PM at ConVal HS for a Mattress Fundraiser. Please note: this fundraiser does not have the students or parents/guardians needing to sell or attend an event.
If you, friends, neighbors or family members buy a Mattress and say who referred you, that student (8th through 12 grade) or school (GBS, SMS or CVHS) will receive the profits!
8th through 12th Grade music students will receive fundraising money in their school account and go towards a Music Disney Trip next spring! The high school cafeteria will be turned into a Mattress showroom and the event coordinators will take care of everything.
