American College of the Building Arts - Charleston, SC
The American College of the Building Arts invites you to visit us on campus this academic year! A number of schools across South Carolina and beyond have scheduled a field trip visit of our campus in Charleston in the past and we'd love to host you as well.
Our recruitment team also travels to visit high schools to talk about our programs, and sometimes we bring our current students for demonstrations! We are a non-profit private college in Charleston, SC that offers a Bachelor (or Associate) of Applied Science in the Building Arts degree with 6 specializations:
- Architectural Carpentry
- Architectural Stone Carving
- Blacksmithing
- Classical Architecture & Design
- Plaster
- Timber Framing
In addition to the liberal arts classes that any traditional college has, ACBA's students spend two and a half days each week in the apprentice labs learning the artistry and hand skills in one of the six areas of craft specialization.
Our faculty and students have been featured on This Old House and PBS NewsHour. Those linked videos are a great showcase of our unique college.

CIA Culinary Institute of America
APPLYING TO THE CIA IS EASY AS 1-2-3
We wanted to make the CIA application process as easy as possible. We’re accepting applications for Fall 2022! But we need all of the below information before we can give your student an admissions decision.
To complete an application, we need the essay response, high school transcript, and recommendation letter.
Now, don’t worry! We’ve simplified the process into three easy steps:
1. Essay Question
Your student might be sitting at home looking for something to do, why not complete the essay question? One simple question, minimum of 200 words.
- Your student can submit them via this form.
- E-mail it to admissions@culinary.edu.
- Your student can also call an admissions counselor and answer the essay question over the phone.
2. Official High School Transcript(s)
Our admissions team is eagerly waiting to receive transcripts and give your student an admissions decision.
- Official e-transcripts can be e-mailed directly or sent via an electronic database, including Parchment, Scribbles, and CommonApp.
3. Send Letter of Recommendation
Now is a good time for students to reach out to teachers, mentors, or employers about writing a letter of recommendation. In the letter they should address why they feel the student will be successful at CIA.
- They can be e-mailed to us at admissions@culinary.edu.
- Or submitted via this secure form.
PICTURE YOUR STUDENT HERE! We’re hosting a special event just for accepted students. We know making that all-important college decision is a big deal. There’s a lot to consider from where you’ll live to what courses you’ll be taking. Get answers at a CIA Accepted Student Day! Attendees will:
Please encourage any accepted students you know to join us!
