Acton Weekly Update 3/1/19
FTCSC Hedgehog Focus
The Hedgehog Concept is based on an ancient Greek parable that states, "The fox knows many things, but the hedgehog knows one big thing." ... Hedgehogs, however, simplify the world and focus on a single, overarching vision, which they then achieve.

Counselor's Corner
One of the most important tasks of a teacher is building trust and open communication with parents and families. Communicating about misbehavior can be tricky at times. The wrong approach can create conflict with parents and decrease trust.
Using Conscious Communication builds trust by focusing on the lagging skill deficit rather than on the child's character.
"Communicating with a parent that their child is “bad” feels like an attack. Communicating that their child is a precious and valued member of the School Family who needs to learn a skill builds positive relationships that lead to positive outcomes." - Kim Jackson
