Winter 2018 STEM Class

What is a Computer and How Does it Really Work?

Big picture

What's Hello Ruby all about?

Hello Ruby is the world's most whimsical way to learn about computers, technology and programming. The story started with a book, and now Ruby continues her adventures in exercises, games and apps. It’s suited for kids age 5 years and older (but even adults might learn something new).

Class Description

This year we will instruct our winter STEM class through interactive learn through play modules. Our students will be exploring and discovering the world of computers in a positive and real-world model. The students will be taking apart old technological devices and identifying the parts of the computer. We will be learning about what a computer is and how they impact our world. Our world is increasingly built on software and we need more diversity in the people building it. With a focus on promoting 21st century skills like communication, critical-thinking and problem solving, our students will be thinking, connecting ideas, sharing with classmates the amazing information all about technology and computers!!
