Oakhurst Elementary

October 8, 2020

From the Principal

Hello Oakhurst families,

What a great week it has been at Oakhurst! This week I had the chance to visit several virtual classrooms. Many students and teachers are thriving in the virtual setting. I loved hearing students share their mathematical thinking in kindergarten and share their understanding of digraphs in first grade. I can't wait to check in with some of our second grade classes next week.

Thank you parents for selecting an initial learning choice. We are able to sure up some of our plans knowing the numbers. If you haven't made a selection, please make an initial decision before the end of day tomorrow. Our COVID Readiness team is continuing its work on our plan. Tomorrow we will send a special e-blast that contains more information regarding our plan. While our presentation won't answer all questions, we hope it will help you to make a more informed decision. Since our work is ongoing, we will be sharing tidbits of information along the way. Additionally, CSD will soon release a COVID manual to answer other questions you might have. We will be sure to let you know when it is available, as well as the deadline for making a final learning choice for your child. We understand how important it is for parents to receive pertinent information regarding our plan and know how difficult it is for some to make a choice. As always, thank you for supporting our process.

Nurse Notes

As we prepare for in person learning, please ensure that the health portion of the Annual Data Update (through the parent portal) is complete. If your child will require medication at school, please complete the updated CSD Authorization of Medication Administration form for each medication. Care plans(asthma, seizure or diabetes) from your healthcare provider need to be updated each school year as well. If you have any questions regarding health forms for your child, please feel free to reach out to me at ddurham@csdecatur.net.
