FAC Weekly Update
April 21, 2023
Good Afternoon, FAC Family
We hope your week went well, and that the upcoming weekend is restful and rejuvenating!
Congratulations to the students of the FAC Voice Studio on their Voice Scenes concert that took place last night (Thursday) at the FAC. The final Voice Scenes concert is tonight, and we are nearly sold out! We have four performances next week and four the week after. Help our students to have a full audience by bringing a friend to one of the performances...I am sure they will be impressed by the amazing talent of our students!
Here’s the latest from the halls of the FAC…
This Week's Student Leadership Lesson
Moving from Dependence to Independence
"On any given day, you may struggle with your habits because you're too busy or too tired or too overwhelmed or hundreds of other reasons. Over the long run, the real reason you fail to stick with habits is that your self-image gets in the way. This is why you can’t get too attached to one version of your identity.
Progress requires unlearning. Becoming the best version of yourself requires you to continuously edit your beliefs, and to upgrade and expand your identity."
- James Clear - Atomic Habits

Reminders - From the FAC Parent Guild
FAC Friends and Families,
We are a few short weeks from the largest event of the year that the Parent Guild runs – Staff Appreciation Week (May 8-12). In past years, we’ve been able to celebrate our wonderful teachers, administrators, and support staff with desserts, meals, gifts, games – something special every day to let them know how much we appreciate them, and we’d really like to continue this tradition for these wonderful people who give so much of themselves to our students.
To make this happen – we need your help.
We’re asking for donations – anything you’re comfortable giving – to fund these events. To donate, you can Venmo our Parent Guild Account at “@FACParentGuild” – or scan the link below. If you chose to donate this way, PLEASE indicate in the Venmo that it is for “Staff Appreciation” – we have other events that use Venmo (ticket sales, merchandise) and it’s necessary to keep these donations credited to the correct area. You can also send a check to the front office made out to FAC Parent Guild with “Staff Appreciation Week” in the memo.
If you’re interested in donating a dessert, we are wrapping up Staff Appreciation Week with “Dessert Day” – we have a sign up at FAC Volunteers: FAC Staff Appreciation Week - Dessert Day (signupgenius.com) to sign up to send a sweet treat in!
Thanks! Please contact me if you have any questions.

Volunteers Needed
The FAC has several student performances in April with great opportunities for parents to get involved! These evening shifts will only take an hour (or less!) of your time.
Volunteer shifts are not limited to parents of that evening's performers! In fact, you'll see a note beside each shift indicating whether that shift will work well for parents of a student performing in that night's show... or if it's better suited for a parent from a different art discipline who can wrap up the shift after the performance has started. We encourage visual arts, architecture, and creative writing parents, as well as performing arts parents whose students are in a different show, to help out so parents of performers to take their seats before the show starts! If we have enough volunteers, we can offer FAC merchandise sales prior to each performance.
Parents can sign up for volunteer shifts at the following link - https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090949A9AB23A7F85-facapril
If you have any questions about volunteering, please email nikidpeters3@gmail.com. Thanks!

Interested students apply via this Google Form - https://forms.gle/JKzR1fyesh9Rj7fD7 - by Friday, May 5, 2023. A committee will review all applications and the winner will be announced at the Fine Arts Center Commencement on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.
